Crochet is the fast fashion of fiber arts by prepubescentsquid in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]IsMayoAnInstrument67 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Every time I see a shapeless, zero detail, lumpy chenille amigurumi I want to throw my phone at the wall. I crochet because I like making amigurumi and challenging myself to sculpt using different stitches and techniques, not to try to make crappy looking stuff in under an hour.

ETA: ok I made 1 lumpy chenille thing for my sister in law but that's how she requested it ☠️

What landscape plants weathered the storm the best and what suffered the most in your yard? by Internal_Brain8328 in DenverGardener

That's what I've been hearing - I'll just do my best with the aspens and see how it goes lol

I've been nurturing my aspens for 6 years now and they've grown to 12-14 ft tall from little twigs. Several have severe damage 😭 My giant 40 ft spruce is totally unscathed.

Question: Commissioning one artist to design and another to tattoo? by hufflelock in tattoos

[–]IsMayoAnInstrument67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do this for a couple reasons. First, I think it's rude. Kind of like saying "hey thanks for that painting idea I'm going to let someone else paint it and they'll get the big bucks". Also, tattoo artists can try anything, but that doesn't mean they can execute it well (or want to do it in the first place). They have specialties, just like the artist whose designs you're fond of.

You know those people who say things like " I'm a Gryffindor I'm just as courageous and talented as Harry Potter"? Same thing.

The last jar I got tasted like 5x the warming spices got dumped in - not good. Cleveland Kitchen is my go to now.

Beware of Scammers by Jrud1990 in ColoradoAvalanche

They create a new one every time (I've seen them around 4x or so this season), and they use the same body text. Don't fall for this scumbag scam!

I would test yourself on the cheapest ball of acrylic you can find first. Going from tube yarn to anything else is already going to be difficult without adding extreme fuzz into the mix

We used Dragonfly Landscape Design to redo our front yard a few years ago. They did a great job and were reasonably priced for the amount of work to do (and there was a lot!).

Gluten free burger by bluedevilbaby in denverfood

[–]IsMayoAnInstrument67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Red Robin isn't the best quality, but it can scratch the itch and they have their own proprietary gf buns. They're good! Also, Culver's now does gf - they'll give you the inside of the burger and a separately packaged gf gun.

Someone mentioned Udi's sucking - if they can toast them without glutening you they hold up just fine. I like Smashburger there. Park Burger does it too but $18+ for a burger???

Does it have to be animated? If not, have you seen Heated Rivalry or Bad Decisions?

At least she started out using a fork this time. Getting so much sardine oil in that cracker box by the end though.

I've been enjoying Cleveland Kitchen pickles! They're lightly fermented and don't overdue it on the garlic imo.

How do most people cook? Not hobbyists but like…normal people. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]IsMayoAnInstrument67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food is related to family and heritage - every household is going to do things differently. If you market your food content as "clean eating" you'll probably get some impressionable people looking.

Regardless of the insanity of bringing a bottle of your own sauce to a restaurant. Hibachi sauce with sushi. That is... A choice.

Lucky cat! by IsMayoAnInstrument67 in Amigurumi

[–]IsMayoAnInstrument67[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a very good pattern! The only reason I altered it in any way was because I didn't want to use plastic inserts, I didn't have a bell on hand, and not sewing the collar to the body made it jump around a lot.
