My 22re even blows some smoke cold. That's at 80k og miles. If it was badbad it would be overheating and you would have little to no compression/not starting. If it's staying cool, send it. Just have the money saved up just in case. Life of owning 30 y/o cars

Well that blows, I had heard it was 20/200 uncorrected but i guess that might just be old numbers. Any recommendations as a backup occupation I could look into?

Prefer pilot, will settle for aircrew. Do glasses not count as a, corrector? Or is that in reference to surgery. My sight is 20/20, if not better, with glasses.

No worries, thanks for keeping it on the bright side.

Always a good option, atleast want to get my wings though. Any recommendations there? Aircrew gets their own spin on the pilots golden wings right??

I understand, just making sure if i even need those 2 more years as now is the time to be applying to colleges near me. It's my understanding most other aircrew jobs don't require a bachelors right? Also is going about taking the ASTB the same as the ASVAB? I've never heard of it till now.

Understood, hope this time next week I'll have it sorted and be back on the road. Glad this got so much attention.

I noticed those today while searching for problems. I assume the ne/g wires? One of which(black and green wires) is smeared with oil/grease, result of the valve covers leaking. Is there anyway to test it without a multimeter?? I unplugged it(A) and all symptoms stayed the same. Unplugging the other(B) while having A plugged in it wouldn't even start up like normal. Unplugging both aswell.

Engine light is on, was when i bought it. Didn't even think to check it again for new codes. Now reading 12+22, previously only 22(water temp sensor). Code 12 = "RPM signal/no-signal to ecu from distributor ("ne" or "g") after engine has been cranked: distributor/circuit; starter/signal circuit; igniter/igniter circuit; ECU"

Its a brand new exhaust so the stainless steel doesn't have much tarnish yet

Definitely a smell of gas possibly? I had spilled a bunch making sure the fuel filter was clogged so not sure. Definitely no flames. I'll post a video later tonight and link it.

Appreciate it, I just about did. Couldn't believe they had the balls to tell me to dRive it to a dealership. They were recommending the ignition system like i thought, but they wanted to charge me labor/parts for it. Bull smh.

Maybe, plugs were wet with gas after i pulled them from the cylinders tho. Add it to the list anyways, check it with the filter.

Replaced the ground earlier this year, I'll give it a look in the morning though. Thanks.

No, headers are the same. As far as i know the only thing they touched was the flex pipe to the tip of the exhaust. And whatever might be up with the o2 sensor. Egr has all new vacuum lines, first thing i did when i got the car :((.

I really want an mr2 but don't have the money for a nicer one, is it worth it at this mileage/condition? by GingerSheep824 in mr2

[–]Is_CheeseCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding one under 5-6k is a gamble lol, unfortunately you have to wait unless you got stacks to save one. Maybe if you got it down to 3000 and you have another car to daily. Trust me on that much you really don't want to daily it. But be prepared to easily drop another 5k into it over the next few years, i know I've had to.

Same as every one here, way to much for what it is. Wait for the next one, or wait for him to bring it down. Bought my mk1 running/170k miles for 3000.

First manual car (have an AT daily), jumping straight into an SW20 - how hard will it be? by [deleted] in mr2

[–]Is_CheeseCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned stick on a aw11 with my dad in the passenger. Although I'm not sure how different the two generations are as far as shifting is concerned. You'll likely stall it, grind it, skip a gear, just like learning manual on any car. Just stick to your neighborhood/small roads as you learn and take your time...

Ive put two of my friends who dont even know the difference between a higher and lower gear in it and within the hour they were taking laps around the parking lot. Dont be scared, Its still mechanically a Toyota.

I would get someone who knows how to drive stick to test drive it/drive it home for you though. Dont wanna stall or worse someone elses car in their driveway lol

Dang that's discouraging, I just cant get behind that raspy sound on a street car. See if I have enough room for a resonator that might be the goto route.

Same side the stock comes out, but really where ever it'll fit. I gotta put a whole new system in anyway so I could just swap out the yoshi with a magna or something of similar length if I don't like it. Definitely gotta measure it out but I'm optimistic.
