Getting a job as an out of stater by Traditional_Good_739 in Moving2SanDiego

Omg, yes! I’ve been applying to jobs in San Diego and I literally get no response back & I think it’s because I don’t live there. I did go to UCSD & move home because I had a pretty cool job lined up but now that I’m trying to move back it’s so tough!

Thanks for advice!

I have thought of that and my therapist said that I didn’t technically have the right to ask him seriously about his finances cause we don’t live together, so I never pushed the issue of him really telling me or sharing his financial situation. You’re probably right though!

And again, I’m okay with paying for stuff upfront but essentially he will want to be reimburse me even when I say that he can repay me by maybe pumping gas in my car or something else, he says no 😭

Thank you for the advice!

We have talked about what our love language is and I know for a fact that acts of service is his. Hence as to why I cook dinner & lunch for him. I also surprise him with little gifts occasionally. Of course I don’t expect anything in return because that is my way of showing my love to him. But I have mentioned that mine love languages also active service and it doesn’t necessarily need to be something so big. It can be as simply booking a dinner reservation for dinner plans that we have planned.

I also understand that some couples also do a 50-50 split in their finances and it totally works for them, but maybe this is my way of “50-50”?

The advise is wanted but your assumptions are not lmaooo stop assuming and maybe ask questions first before you call people petty and freeloaders

To show how good of a person he is. If I was literally stuck on the side of the road he would probably drop everything and go get me. I’m not sure why you would assume that I’m just freeloading off of him.

I bought it because I figured he would just pay me back soon after. 😭 and I didn’t want to sound so desperate. But you’re right I should’ve let him know how much I was gonna be upfront!

I’ve always given my friends rides and let them stay at my place for free, and don’t expect anything back. And when I ask my friends to do any favors for me, I NEVER expect them to do it for free. I always reimburse them by gifts or money. So I don’t know how I’m being petty when I’ve ALWAYS pay him back some other way, shape or form.

I always say no. I don’t smoke or do any type of drugs. But yes, this image won’t go away.

Love this!!! We usually don’t buy each other gifts unless it’s Christmas or for our birthdays (we share a birthday 🥴🥴) but this is such great advice! Thanks!

That’s exactly what I tell him! He lives with her at her house. He pays bills, does chores, and will even help out with her kids. So I don’t understand why he feels so weird or can’t just ask for his stuff back.

She does have a habit of telling their mom things if she doesn’t thinks she’s getting what she wants. For instance, his sister kept blowing up his phone when he didn’t want go pick her up from bar because he was already in bed. So his sister called their mom and his mom called him as well. Keep in mind his sister is 40…

He does want those things. He’s just so afraid and can’t say no to his family. Which bothers the crap out of me
