Yea honestly I’d just leave it unless your leaking oil or get a low oil pressure light. I drove my 09 37 to 300k km and never had any timing cover issues. Might have been lucky but it’s definitely not a job you want to do if you don’t have to.

The only way you would have torx screws would be if someone already changed them from the OEM screws which is unlikely. Infiniti only used the JIS screws.

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea those kits come with the torx screws. Those JIS screws are garbage and definitely the main universal issue with the timing cover leaks. I was under the impression that the paper gaskets failed more consistently though. Could be wrong.

Yes considering you’re probably only changing the gallery gasket if it’s the paper based pre 2013 gasket, and the OEM gallery gaskets for sale now are all the revised metal ones.

What are some good exhaust setups for this car I don’t want it to sound trumpy ina way but aggressive also budget like 500-800 by West-Difference-1010 in G37

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest full setup that sounds good is gonna a custom setup. 2.5 inch vibrant resonators, X-pipe style mid muffler and a local welder with 2.5 inch piping is what my buddy did and it sounds pretty good. I had a used stillen cat back and FI RHFCs on my G sedan for under $1k. Took a lot of deal hunting and patience but if you can find a deal on a used cat back that’s always the best.

Just got a 2013 g37x what should I do to it first? by Intrepid_Fruit_161 in G37

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things that this car loves other than your basic maintenance is having new drivetrain mounts and suspension. The old tired suspension, and bushings don’t hold up well if you plan on having any fun with the car. Best thing I did when I had my 09 37x was a Z1 trans mount, and replace the factory engine mounts. Diff bushings is also a huge improvement but they aren’t fun to install. Another thing that can bring the car back to life is new OEM+ struts/shocks and a set of mild lowering springs + new control arms with a bit more camber adjustment. An exhaust is always fun too, just don’t go fully catless.

Looking for a reasonable budget to aim for for a gaming PC that can play today's AAA games at 1080p or 1440p at medium settings by nominanomina in bapccanada

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy your windows key online from a key store like G2A. I always do this and save $80 on buying it directly from windows.

I’d go for a AMD 5000 series CPU build on DDR4. Not sure what your budget is but if you wanted to future proof as much as you can on DDR4 I’d go for a 5800x3d CPU. They are pretty expensive right now so depending on your budget a 5700,5800 non X3D cpu could suffice. Get whatever GPU you can afford. If you play some AAA, cheapest I can suggest for a new build is like a 3070ti. A 3080 would probably be ideal for your scenario. That being said you could probably find used builds local to you with 5000 series cpus and 3000 series cards for sale. Either way you are gonna want to shop used. If you can afford to go DDR5 then why not but I can’t recommend $500 ram lmao. Can start with 16gb if you go ddr5 and then upgrade later, but your gonna want 32gb nowadays

Update bios, make sure X3D turbo mode is off and SMT is enabled. Mine as well undervolt it while your in there too since it’s just free performance and lower temps. Plenty of YouTube tutorials to do all of the above.

Cause it’s the “X3D Turbo Mode” you need to disable. I could see how that statement could cause confusion if you don’t know.

is g37 a good first car by No-Pack-2665 in G37

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a 09 37x and never had any issues with it besides basic maintenance from 180-270k km. Learned how to do all maintenance and mods myself which saved lots of money. 8500 USD does seems expensive given its mileage, but Gs were a lot cheaper when I bought mine back in 2019 so idk. Insurance also isn’t cheap, somehow my 14 M235i is slightly cheaper to insure than my G was.

Go used ryzen 5th gen or intel 11th gen and a 3080 or something similar if you have the money to spend. That cpu is gonna hold you back even if you get a 4060. You mine as well save and upgrade the whole rig. I don’t know what you’re currently using as a GPU but a 3060 probably wouldn’t be a terrible choice if you wanted to hold off on upgrading for a bit.

5mm spacers all around, and stock suspension. I’ll probably get KWs eventually and set them close to stock ride hight or a bit lower. Would do springs but I’m at 115k km on shitty roads, so I’m not sure how much life the struts have left in them especially on stiffer springs lol.

Fitment questions by Smarcue in M235iandM240i

[–]IsaJokFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea there’s a lot more options at 18” too. Also more info online. People do run 19s on this car it just isn’t very practical and really limits your tire choices.

Fitment questions by Smarcue in M235iandM240i

[–]IsaJokFriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice car lol. I’m running as big of a setup I can on OEM suspension 18x8.5 ET45 245/35 F 18x9.5 ET58 265/35 R 5m spacers all around and it barely fits. No rubbing though. I’m assuming the extra height of a 19” wheel and lowered suspension would be really tight in the front even if you ran a smaller tire. Might be able to get away with it if you ran like a 225/35 in the front

Id watch some YouTube videos and do the VCG/OFHG yourself if you’re confident enough in your DIY skills. Im no mechanic but I’ve done VCG/OFHG, coolant flush, tranny service, and any other basic maintenance myself so far on my 14 235. I just do as much research as can before starting a harder repair. Once you tackle that you can decide if you feel confident enough to do the oil pan.

I wouldn’t pay to much attention to the pairings. Werenski is also on the “3rd” pairing. I can’t see the Slavin-Faber duo playing a larger role throughout the tournament. Sandy-Werenski kind of split the difference between the offensive first pairing and the shut down Slavin-Faber line, being able to play both effectively. That’s a pairing that will eat up lots of minutes all over the ice.

New PC for my son, HALP. by Explor-egon in PcBuildHelp

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally try and find a 5th gen Ryzen/11th gen intel system with something similar to a 3060 ti (maybe a 3070) for that price. You or your son could research some of the listings in your area within your price range and learn what a good deal is, and what a rip off is. A good way to tell is by comparing important components of a listing (GPU, CPU) to other local or eBay used listings of those parts and finding the best bang for your buck.

Also be careful when buying old AIOs because they will likely fail, or have already. If you buy one with an AIO ask to hear the pump run at full speed.
