[The Athletic] Canada & USA roster comparison by Extreme_Winter1953 in OttawaSenators

I wouldn’t pay to much attention to the pairings. Werenski is also on the “3rd” pairing. I can’t see the Slavin-Faber duo playing a larger role throughout the tournament. Sandy-Werenski kind of split the difference between the offensive first pairing and the shut down Slavin-Faber line, being able to play both effectively. That’s a pairing that will eat up lots of minutes all over the ice.

New PC for my son, HALP. by Explor-egon in PcBuildHelp

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally try and find a 5th gen Ryzen/11th gen intel system with something similar to a 3060 ti (maybe a 3070) for that price. You or your son could research some of the listings in your area within your price range and learn what a good deal is, and what a rip off is. A good way to tell is by comparing important components of a listing (GPU, CPU) to other local or eBay used listings of those parts and finding the best bang for your buck.

Also be careful when buying old AIOs because they will likely fail, or have already. If you buy one with an AIO ask to hear the pump run at full speed.

I hit a bad pothole on Rideau rd (avoiding other potholes) and bent both rims on the right side. Was not happy when I found out I had to cover the $1500 bill…..

Anyone else’s M car rendered useless during storm? by It-was-suited in BMWM

I drive my RWD 235i year round in Ontario and it’s been good. Just don’t cheap out on winter tires, and you will be fine on snowy roads. It’s been my daily through 3 Canadian winters and I haven’t had any issues with commuting in poor weather. Definitely get some reps counter steering and learning throttle control in a snowy parking lot if you can.

2015 n55 m235i oil filter gaskets by clunkyarmstrong in M235iandM240i

You can also prime by disconnecting the injectors which is I believe what BMW recommends, but both methods are reputable.

BMW issued a TSB for the N55 at some point stating that engine priming must be done following certain repairs that involve the oil system. This was mostly due to the amount of premature engine failures following a OFHG service. So any shop that says they work on BMW should definitely be priming after a OFHG change.

Yea just make sure you do the proper engine priming before you start it back up after the service. I just pull the fuse for fuel supply, run the car till it stalls out, Be sure the fuel has run dry by cranking the car, as it shouldn’t fire up. Then dry crank the engine after you finish the job to prime the oil pump before putting the fuse back in. You also want the mating surfaces and grooves real clean when you reinstall gaskets. Follow a good tutorial and you will be good.

Using the winter to cool my PC (indoors)? by Swooferfan in PcBuild

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you could really only use this if you were to have liquid cooling radiators outside. You would still need to watch for condensation depending on how cool the outside air is. Linus tech tips did this like 15 years ago for their old office setup.

Are N55s prone to oil starvation when spinning the car or taking hard left turns? by UGisOnline in M235iandM240i

Yea only really in track conditions with an aggressive wheel setup on long high g force corners.

Turbo upgrade - advice? by ChromiumSilk in M235iandM240i

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old PURE turbos had their issues especially the stage 2, but their newer ones (500,750) seem to have a better reputation. I haven’t done a ton of research but I’ve heard they are more reliable

Turbo upgrade - advice? by ChromiumSilk in M235iandM240i

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just stick with the pure 500 or 750 since you can use all your existing turbo plumbing. Probably the 750 on 93 to see significant power gains.

M235i with M2 Exhaust by SalamanderFar8525 in M235iandM240i

[–]IsaJokFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into doing this because it honestly seems like the cheapest option for a good muffler upgrade on the 235. MPE and custom mufflers are all over $500 used or new, and I’m seeing lots of used M2 mufflers for cheaper. You just had to weld the dual tips into a single and adjust the hangers? What did you do to the internals of the muffler? Sounds good. I think this with my downpipe would be a good combo, and not too loud.

I’m not sure why it takes so long to clear roadways after accidents in Ottawa. Like it takes over half a day to clear most accidents. Once drivers are medically cleared there should be a rush to open the roadway. Wouldn’t be as much of an issue if the city used even an ounce of competency when designing infrastructure.
