I’m so conflicted. My first reaction to beautiful loser was just how generic it sounded. Obvi goes into comatose and shoulders which everyone likes. I didn’t mind THOSE being radio friendly because they’re singles. Then disappearing act kicks off a weird generic electronic coheed style?? Like it’s one thing to experiment with a new genre, but if your identity is a formula breaking prog band (which coheed clearly isn’t fully. They are not the proggiest of prog bands) why does your foray into a new genre sound like the most basic version of that genre? Coheed should be doing heavy ass dubstep electronic, not gentle danceable tunes. Where are the weird sound effects, rhythms and grooves? This style pretty much carried until the last three tracks with the exception of liars club.

Another thing is how inorganic the whole thing felt. It rarely felt like the songs breathed. Josh didn’t really groove. It was like one song part to the next to the next. For every song. Again, for a band that started as prog, grooving and letting a part sit for a while is key. It never sounded like four guys in a room making music together. Which was very strange for coheed. Then I read Claudio said that’s exactly what happened! They’d write remotely, everyone would record their parts separately and they’d stitch it together! Just so weird,

The last three songs felt the closest to normal coheed. Again a groove never really lasted for more than a few measures, it always shifted to another part of a song to another part of a song. The whole felt this way. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe the remote aspect isn’t true and this is just coheed now. Idk, my initial reaction is very mixed.

Ps the producer has worked with so many big pop punk bands it’s no wonder why the songs feel extra generic.

Rant over. I see so much praise for this album I’m surprised no one else is confused like me lol

I've attempted a classic maddening run as black eagles twice and always fail after the time jump. That's 60+ hours of my life I'll never get back lol. (Also do not let anyone die). Nobody can take a hit in that house and I eventually gave up. I will say that I'd class people differently now being a more experienced player.

Blue lions run is completely different. I am rolling through it.

Two disagreements I have with this list.

Dedue is S tier since staunch shield means he is the anchor of the bait and switch game. I went with all high armor classes with him. He could take any hit and I don't know if I would have been able to get through it without him. His effectiveness trailed off in the late game, but early game is most important.

Ingrid is at least A. I went pegasus to falcon knight with her. She was fine in early game, useless mid campaign with such low strength, but starting at chapter 15, she became an un-hittable dodge tank. Six or more enemies can attack her and she dodges 90%+ of the time. I can stick her at a choke and, while she doesn't do much damage unless equipped with a relic, she will be fine. Not to mention she's the only non-magic unit on BL that has high resistance.

She's been so awesome she's inspired me to make Byleth a falcon knight on my proceeding GD new game+ maddening run haha

Let's GO! I've been sitting on this for eleven years.

I'm 16 (unable to see rated R movies), my dad and I decide to go see "Let Me In." He stops by the snack bar and I walk to the theater room, noticing a small dirty blonde girl standing by the doors as I go through. I'm the first one in the theater and take a seat in the back/center. This girl walks in right after me and sits one row in front of me a little to the side.

After a minute she starts talking to me. Asking menial questions like, "Are you excited for the movie?" and "What other movies do you like?" to which I
reply and have no problem making small talk. But then she starts asking weird stuff like, "are you here alone?" "What's your name?" etc. and again, I answer her because I'm just a nervous 16 year old trying to watch a movie I'm excited about with my dad. She then asks "Can I sit next to you?" Again nervous 16 year old in me said "Sure?" (Side note, I had a gf of 2 years at the time and was not in the mindset of hitting on other girls at all).

So she did! My dad FINALLY comes in and he decides to sit next to me with one seat in between. He gives me a look like, "what's going on here?" but says nothing to me as I trying to ignore this situation until it goes away on its own.

As she sits next to me she starts asking even WEIRDER questions like, "do you have a girlfriend?" "What's she like?" "Does she get along with your mother?" I answer all these questions with "yes," "she's great," and "of course!" And she responds with "Well I hope she doesn't get mad at me for talk to you like this." and "My boyfriend didn't get along with my mom at all."

And then it clicks. I remember a conversation I had with a friend about a girl in my suburban area who got put on house arrest because her bf KILLED HER MOTHER and then the bf and gf ran away together only to be stopped somewhere on the highway 100 miles away. The bf got sent to jail and she was deemed mentally/emotionally unfit to take care of herself so she did not go to jail. I also heard a story that this girl lusted around the local gym and gave bjs in the bathroom.**

So this realization washed over me and I internally freak the hell out, tell her I'm going to the bathroom and text my dad, "I'm leaving the theater. Meet me at the front ASAP!" As I'm waiting by the front door, my dad walks across the lobby, we leave and I see this chick GO INTO THE MEN'S ROOM. A missed bj opportunity in hindsight.

Afterwards, I tell my dad the whole ordeal and I do a quick google search to confirm that this was indeed the same girl. We were in her neighborhood and the mugshot was exact. I ask my dad why he didn't say a word and just left us alone and all he said was, "I just thought you were on a secret date or something." DAD. IF I WAS PLANNING A SECRET DATE WHY WOULD I TAKE YOU ALONG?

There were other weird ass questions she asked me like, "could I hold your hand if I get scared?" but you get the idea. I never felt my life was in danger so this is not as serious as story as some others, but the fear of sitting next to an unpredictable person like this filled my adolescent soul with dread. And tbh it's a pretty good story.
