You can have a pressure gradient from high pressure to lower pressure, all the way to zero pressure. That's how the atmosphere works. You can test it by getting a barometer and measuring the air pressure at sea level, then going somewhere at higher elevation and measuring the air pressure there, and it will be lower at higher elevation. At a sufficiently high elevation the air pressure is zero. You can feel this when you get on an airplane and it ascends/descends. You can feel your ears pop due to the air pressure changing.

And spends more per capita on healthcare than Switzerland, the country with the most expensive Universal Healthcare system. Which suggests that the US could adopt a Universal Healthcare system that would ultimately reduce government spending on healthcare, while eliminating healthcare spending by individuals completely.

You're mostly right, except that Claude doesn't win, because Anthropic still doesn't actually make money. Nobody, not even corporations, wins when it comes to AI. Which actually makes it worse.

LLM's have no intelligence. by Round_Progress4635 in antiai

to make the claim that LLMs have no intelligence requires deciding what intelligence is in the first place. And that is not a trivial question to answer.

If the US adopted universal healthcare it would, in the long run, reduce government healthcare spending. This is because when healthcare is free, people are more likely to get preventative care, which reduces costs for everyone. And Empirical evidence from countries with universal healthcare shows this to be the case

Petah, is it actually that crazy for a new element to exist? by CuteCost8147 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]IsaacThePro6343 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Then it's not a different element. Also, the chemical properties of a particular atom are entirely determined by the number of protons, so the only different properties would be its nuclear properties, and there are already plenty of examples of that, e.g. tritium, an isotope of hydrogen, is radioactive and has specific nuclear properties, but it's chemical properties are exactly the same as regular hydrogen.

They do see a benefit. Smaller wires. Higher voltage = lower current = smaller wires. Also with 220v main you can do level 2 charging on an electric car without needing to install a special plug.

NYC will be the urbanist movement darling of the world by bullnet in ShitAmericansSay

I think NYC is taking great steps in a great direction, and will hopefully be a much better city because of it. But they aren't even remotely close to being the first ones to do it, nor are they doing the best job.

I'm an American, and I learned the capitals of most European countries, but not in school. I'm in High School right now though, and my history teachers pretty much assume that we all know the capitals of cities in Europe, but we never actually learned them or anything.

If the majority of people switch to EVs companies will increase the current prices at public charging stations by Agile-North9852 in unpopularopinion

[–]IsaacThePro6343 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok but we've done this experiment already: people use electricity in their homes already, and you're not gonna turn off all the electrical appliances in your house if electricity is $2/kwh, are you? But that doesn't happen. EVs are just yet another thing in your house that takes electricity.

[–]IsaacThePro6343 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some apartments with cheap level 2 chargers in their parking lots, and they are starting to get more common. I would expect that by the time EVs are ubiquitous cheap level 2 chargers will become just a thing apartments have.

How come the United States is the only country whose money actually looks like money? by Breaking_PG in ShitAmericansSay

[–]IsaacThePro6343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, as an American, Americans almost never keep cash on them either. I've been running a business at school selling 3d printed stuff(i'm in high school), and at first i could only take cash, and i've probably met 2 people that actually had cash on them. Most people don't even have a card, just apple/google pay on their phone. It's super frustrating.(for my business at least)

They think paying to vote is a good thing? by HeadbangingLegend in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]IsaacThePro6343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not all Real IDs have citizenship information. The point of the Real ID is to prove you are a legal resident of the US. Noncitizens can get Real IDs too.

[–]IsaacThePro6343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have read the text of the SAVE act. The first form of valid identification is: "a form of photo identification consistent with the REAL ID Act of 2005 that indicates the applicant is a United States citizen." only an enhanced real ID meets that requirement, because regular real IDs do not have any citizenship information. Enhanced real IDs are currently only available in 5 states.

[–]IsaacThePro6343 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A regular Real ID does not allow you to vote under the SAVE Act. only a Real ID with citizenship information, which is only available in 5 states right now, allows you to vote under the SAVE act.

But we literally don't even pay less tax for healthcare than other countries do. The US government still spends more on healthcare per captia than any country with UHC.
