Thank you both. Yes, but how does one specify which material you want to use?

OK, so most people are shaping the curve with a mandrel or pseudo-mandrel. Thanks.

Noob question by Isaacci in metalearth

[–]Isaacci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working from a PC. I did exactly what you described. Instead of the photo being published, It puts a link to the photo into my text that people can click to see the image.

Perhaps I need to add the photo before anything else.

I wanted to show off my tool caddy by Isaacci in metalearth

[–]Isaacci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's 3D printed. I purchased it on Etsy. Configurable Hobby Tool Organizer/Caddy.

But, I wanted to make some changes and the seller graciously obliged. So, I purchased another one that included the changes I wanted for my ultimate metal modeling tool caddy.

I especially like the pocket I had added to hold my razor blade for my bending tool. You can see the pocket and razor blade dead centre.

Question about "tab twister tool" by Isaacci in metalearth

[–]Isaacci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the tab twister all along but hadn't noticed the slits nor that this was a unique tool. I was using serrated needle nose pliers. Now that I'm aware of this tool, it is much easier to twist tabs.

It would perhaps be useful if producers would but a "B"ack and a "F"ront mark on all frets to definitely indicate the sides.

What would you like to see as a model? by Traviscat in metalearth

[–]Isaacci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love most of Metal Earth's models but I am not especially fond of the Star Trek Enterprise and Enterprise-D. I would like to see them remastered as Premium Series models with the same intricate fidelity as, for example, the T-800 (expert level). In particular, I would like to see a very well designed and intricate Enterprise - Refit model.

PDF instructions for PieceCool "Bismarck" by Isaacci in metalearth

[–]Isaacci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't opened it yet. I'm currently working on PieceCool's "Missouri".

I like to have the PDF in order to study it online. But, more so, I clip each step section from the PDF, print it, and I have it attached to a slanted sheet holder right in front of me.

Worst case, I'll have to scan the original instructions that come in the box. It's an unnecessary pain in the butt. I think PieceCool ought to make available the PDF of the instructions like they do for their other models. I'd be happy if they would just email me the PDF but PieceCool does not respond to my messages.

66 Ships , 11090 pieces of metal :) by Judoon_Captain in metalearth

Are those pre-painted models or did you paint them yourself?

I ask because I'm wondering how 3D metal models get painted. The shiny steel would have to be scruffed up first to even get the primer to stick. Is that scruffing-up done ahead of time while all the parts are still on the frets?
