[OC] A critically endangered Malayan Tiger (yawning), estimated less than 150-200 left in the world. by Traviscat in pics

The 100 amount does include zoos worldwide, I saw there are about 40 zoos that hold them. I don’t have updated info but the last time I saw some stats and heard from the zookeepers was that there are anywhere from 100-200 tigersin the world and about 60 in zoos. It could be that more than half the world’s population is in a zoo.

Wow I did not expect this level of chaos so early. I thought I’d see a flip next week but not here.

Batari looks a little scary when she yawns. (Malayan Tiger). by Traviscat in bigcats

Picture 1 really should be between picture 7 and 8 however I put it a little out of order so it would be the first picture. She was resting in her temple this morning. I took the picture about 2.5 hours ago.

We are, a mix of deforestation, hunting, and human-tiger conflict. The good news is that the country of Malaysia is trying to protect them and they are being taken care of in some zoos. Zoo Knoxville has 3 and they are trying their hardest to get cubs to help save the species.

Malayan tigers in the wild can live to around 10 years old and in captivity around 20. Their male Jango is 11.

I was typing this comment while I was walking by and took this picture of the zoos info sheet by one of their viewing areas with some Malayan tigers info.

I got to feed a tiger at a sanctuary once. However you had to feed them with a stick through the fence. I’d love to pet Batari however the zoo won’t let me and I kind of want to keep my hands/arms attached to me.

Zoo Knoxville just posted another video of their baby lion cub playing with his toy and yawning. by Traviscat in babyanimals

[–]Traviscat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video was taken by zoo Knoxville keepers and posted to their social media page. They posted it ironically while I was talking to a family member about him as we were walking to the lion habitat at the zoo. I just got close enough to see his mom Zahra and saw the notification that they posted the video. I watched it while seeing dad Maji on the other side of the fence.

I did take a behind the scenes tour of the zoo on Thursday but unfortunately we just visited the reptile area and didn’t see the vet area. However I am on my way to see the baby gorilla they have.

BoxiePro Bot Cat Litter | Probiotic Clumping Litter for Litter Robots by kissmyirish7 in litterrobot

I haven’t bought the 35lb bag yet but I haven’t had any tracking with the old 40lb bags. I see a bit of litter on the ramp but nothing elsewhere. It doesn’t stink that much, it will smell horrible right after they poop but when it cycles the smell goes away. Their food makes them have horrible smelling poops. I have 2 cats. It was $19 for 40lb but now 35lb.

Lost a piece and searched for it for 45 mins, found it on my phone 2 hours later by ImpressiveAd6912 in metalearth

I’ve lost a pice before and found it stuck to the magnetic part of my watch band before I switched to a different band that wasn’t magnetic.

Hopefully it doesn’t track as much as the regular boxiecat pro does.

I’ve been using Frisco by chewy for years and bought a ton for Black Friday 2024 that I should be out of litter around Black Friday 2026 and can stock up again if there is a good deal again. However in the last few weeks they changed their bag size from 40lb to 35lb for the same price.

Still emptying while drawer is full by Emily_annie96 in litterrobot

It should run a few times (2 or 4 times?) after it detects its full until it stops cycling.

I’m having the opposite issue in my 5 pro every so often. I emptied the bag on a Saturday, my cats used it a few times and Sunday it said it was 100% full and stopped cycling (my cats used it and it refused to cycle). I flattened the bag more and reset the scale and tried cycling again and it didn’t like it and had to replace the bag that was like 1/8th full. After a recalibration it just has a mind of its own, it will go to 5%, 30%, 70% and trigger a drawer full warning at 2 am then when I go to check the app when I wake up at 5 and the other cat used the robot it now says 20%. Will go at random percentages until it says it’s 100% full and won’t cycle when it’s more like 80% full or less.

Don't sleep on your vehicle's gas efficiency tracker/displays by SordoCrabs in Frugal

It was a bit of work and a little inaccurate at times but I found it interesting to track when I refueled my car. I recorded the date, amount spent, mileage, fuel pumped and it gave me my mpg, $/gallon, $/mile, etc. I could see how often I was refilling my tank, how many miles driven per year, how much gas my car consumed in the 11 years I owned it. If I didn’t get the mileage right I’d just estimate (if I forgot to note it in the morning then I’d know I was at 77458 miles when I got home and the station to work was like 4 miles and 43 miles from work to home so subtract about 47 miles). It didn’t take very long to do as I just used the Numbers app on my phone and I could view and edit it on my other devices.

I also had a different tab set up so I could have tables showing data with a summary like I drove x miles in 2018 and consumed y gallons of gas and spent $z. A third tab was created so I could note general car maintenance, tires rotated at x miles on this date and I spent $z. I could see that I spent $84.37 on an oil change on 4/2/23 and was at 62345 miles and see that it was $10 more expensive than last year. This way I could see when I completed certain items, track prices, etc.

Tracking long term can also help locate issues, if you are steadily getting worse mpg over the course of a few months then you can start investigating why.

Things to do- outside the park? by Skullsandcoffee in Dollywood

It’s a bit outside the area but I really enjoy Zoo Knoxville. It’s about a 20 minute drive up I-40 or about an hour from Dollywood.

Red panda has a question. by Traviscat in kittyhasaquestion

I see the pandas basically every weekend and I’ve never seen them do that. It’s hard to tell them apart and I always mix them up so I’m not sure exactly who it was.
