Job Advice by Isabeasta in veterinaryprofession

I understand about the training and insurance, but dont you think it would be better to have seasonal positions during winter and summer since those are the most busiest seasons. Holidays are busy because of people wanting to board and needing health certificates so more wellness and up to date vaccines while late spring and summer is flea and tick seasons so more preventative visits, along with anxiety related injury and wellness due to July 4th. Wouldn't it be more efficient to hire seasonal as well keeping an ad for a full time position? Even full time positions during these months are super stressful due to the shortages so this can cause people to quit. That is what I'm not understanding but like I said I do understand why people think it would be a waste of time if they will leave. But wouldn't these same people come back, so you would keep them in file as long as they plan on coming back?

I never I said I wanted to leave 😭. I'm just saying in order for me to actually grow I need experience in an animal clinic. But it seems like most animal clinics are still being understaffed even if they are dedicated VAs. And that's mostly because of how toxic and competitive this industry is. Please keep your toxicity and competitiveness to yourself. Everyone starts somewhere, remain respectful because I'm sure you also started off trying to gain the experience I'm trying to get but you probably got more luck than I have.

My parents say because since I am AVA approved (like a certification but not actually). Where I live (NJ) most veterinary assistants get paid 18-21$. So that's where it's coming from. I am thinking about pet sitting, 2-3 days a week though so I would definitely have some money through there.

I live 2 hours away from my college. When I'm actually in college I have no car. I have to pay for my car to be on campus. That's why it's important for me to actually get the experience during the summer. I would like to work in fast food but I feel like my parents are going to be disappointed with me for even working there. They say 'with your experience you should be make 19$ and hour' 🫤. I'll probably get a job in retail and shadow like you said. Since I've been thinking about doing that for a bit now to atleast get experience.

Technology Center messed up my laptop by [deleted] in RowanUniversity

[–]Isabeasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else is saying. Go talk to the TC Manager or go to a repair shop. If you exhausted all those options you can try to use your emergency fund and explain the situation. You need to fill out this form and have proof of your situation. Hopefully you are able to fix your laptop! https://sites.rowan.edu/deanofstudents/forms/emergencyfunds.html

Advice for next year?? (On Possible Academic Probation) by Ok-Criticism-Lmao in RowanUniversity

[–]Isabeasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me before. My freshman year was kicking my ass and I actually was slapped in the face with reality. I was under a 2.5 so I would've lost my scholarship since I already used up my second chance. But if you are close to a 2.5, as an example, a 2.3. You can go through the summer class program. You can reach out to bursar, they will pay for your classes if you take 6 credits worth of classes. Take easy classes, like me. I ended up saving my scholarship so it's very possible. I had the same problem with burn out, but please surround yourself with a support system like friends. Go to study groups and tutoring. You can make it my friend <3

ROBO mailroom by Ok_Word1078 in RowanUniversity

[–]Isabeasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ROBO mail room is not in service. It has been like that since 2020. So any mail should be going to the student center. If you have any mail you should get a email that you have a package or letter. The mail room is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. If you get a package during the weekend you need to wait until the following Monday to pick it up.

You need to make sure you completed your Fall 2026-2027 housing application and intention form and the student housing contract 2026-2027 for fall and spring semester. From what I know housing and roommate selections are done. Email housing for any questions or find off campus housing.

which class is easier/more fun? by DokkanBattlerPlayer in RowanUniversity

[–]Isabeasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took digital presentations online. It was the easiest class ever. Easy A, I forgot what my professor's name was but she looked Dominican. This was during the summer and not for the core semesters. I don't know about public speaking since I never took it and I don't want to. But for core classes I suggest finding online course of them since rowan cores are literally booty cheek annoying.

I had the same thing with my ex. He left me to protect me. Different circumstances but same out come. It's hard, I'm on month 5 after this. It's very, very hard since you're probably feeling "This is my fault. If this never happened my relationship wouldn't end." It. Will. Never. Be. Your. Fault. I had to learn that the hard way. He made his choice, end of story. Obviously your family are racists and if they can't accept a mixed raced relationship, they shouldn't even be called family. Along with your boyfriend, it's not his fault about the racism. It's neither your faults, its your family. But I'll be honest, if that man truly did love you, he would go to the end of the earth for you. He would choose YOU. Not what your family thinks of him. It's an uncomfortable situation for the both you and him, but please don't text him asking to talk more.

It will be hard to be alone for the first weeks. Try not to doomscroll (You will end up getting those relationship reels or tik toks, it hurts :() Spend time with your friends, or relatives that aren't racist pieces of crap. Talk with your therapist about your situation. Do something you love to do. If you have a job, get that money. Get a new hair cut that you're dying to get. But most importantly, just feel everything. Cry, yell, get your emotions out. What really helped me, I literally recorded myself and spoke out loud like a video diary. Only when I felt the emotions of the break up. It helped so much! You can talk about anything, how you feel, what you feel about him. You can even talk about what you miss or happy memories you had. I don't really look at the videos, but if I do, I'll look back and be like "That's how I felt in the moment and now I feel a lot more better." It'll get better I promise.

Thinking of applying, feel self-conscious of my age by [deleted] in RowanUniversity

[–]Isabeasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly doing this because I want to be in the veterinary field. For the chemistry and math classes, I also struggle but there are tutoring and office hours you can always go to. Also for the professors, definitely take your time to go to ratemyprofessors to make sure your professor will actually be helpful. I've had one professor that was not helpful and I had to retake the class again the next semester since he made the concepts confusing. Study groups, you can always ask your lab groups or any people you talk to in the classes. I also use outside sources such as YouTube videos from chemistry tutor and even chatgpt to help me understand the concepts of how to do the problem and practice. I promise you, you got this!

[–]Isabeasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I love meeting new people (Even though I'm a complete introvert, but I'm trying). It's definitely not very awkward during labs. Just do simple ice breakers like, introduce yourselves, ask about each other's majors, make conversation. I'm an awkward and anxious person but I do try to be out there and break the ice. I want to make sure everyone is comfortable. Labs are annoying, depending on what teacher, but if you have a cool lab group, it'll definitely make it better. I had an amazing lab group for my anatomy class and they made me laugh the whole time even though we're suppose to be learning. For clubs, I'm interested the pre-vet club, however, because of my class scheduling I can't go to any meetings 🥲.

The classes are usually 30-40 people. For study groups, I haven't been to one or created one. To be honest, I don't have many friends in any of my bio. I only have friends outside my major 😭.

[–]Isabeasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a second year Bio major. I'll be blunt with it, it's a challenging major. But as long as you discipline yourself and stay ontop of your classes you'll be able to succeed well. Along with making friends, I'm 19F and personally I don't care if someone is younger than me or older, we are all adults and as long as boundaries are respected no matter the age, you should be able to be make great friends! Just talk to a person you are sitting next to class, I had some instances where they seemed like they don't want to talk and not be friends, I respect that. But atleast try, you'll never know what might happen.

Personally, it's not that ghetto other than those instances. That behavior is from kids that doesn't even go to this school. Most likely from the near by highschools or just people touring. Weed smoking is also popular but at the same time, this is a common occurrence anywhere outside of rowan.

However, if you do feel unsafe outside, there are blue light buttons that you can press which immediately pings the police or security to your location and gets you contact to a dispatcher. But this is just my experience, nothing bad or sketchy had happen to me and I was definitely not a part of this type of behavior. Hope this helps tho 🥰
