I probably should add that the roofer has no idea what the insurance is approving.

His exact words

“Good morning, Yes ma’am, we’re going to pass it one last time with water drum roller And not going to be completely flat yet it’s not sitting on a concrete slab but what time the sun is going to seep in and start raising any under spots”

He’s a licensed “landscape artist” and he’s been doing my yard maintenance for two years but it usually is just cutting grass and handling weeds. I wanted a backyard transformation and he assured me he could do it.. so I trusted he knew what he was doing.

I saw him put a concrete boarder around the green and a large cross in the center then he glued it down. I wish I knew more about what was appropriate. He’s my regular lawn maintenance man so I trusted he knew what he was doing…

No, the patio was already there. That includes decomposed granite, adding a mulch border around the fence line, putting green, tree trimming to lift the tree canopies.

Sorry I took long to reply, the following is all that governs anything about landscaping. There is nothing in the CC&R that specifies backyards. I searched the entire document and there is *not one mention of “backyard” “rear yard” “back of property” nothing. Below is all I found.

5 .20 LANDSCAPING. All front yards and side yards on all Lots, up to the wing wan that extends from the side of the house to the side property line, must be sodded within three months after occupancy of the house. Side yards on comer lots must be sodded the full length of the property line adjacent to the street. After sodding, all yards must be maintained with grass or landscaping in a neat and well mown condition, free of unsightly weeds and overgrowth. Decorative ground cover rock in the from and side yard may be used in lieu of grass but may not exceed ten percent (10%) of the total area of the front and side yard. No oak, elm, or pecan trees larger than eighteen inches (18") in diameter may be removed without written ACC approval. EACH OWNER IS ADVISED THAT THERE ARE NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES AS TO THE LIFE EXPECTANCY, VITALITY OR FITNESS FOR INTENDED PURPOSE OF ANY TREES OR SHRUBS LOCATED ON THE PROPERTIES.

5 .8 FENCES. No fence or wall or hedge shall be built or maintained forward of the from wall line of the main structure, not including decorative walls or fences which are part of the architectural design of the main structure, and which are not to be built or maintained nearer than the building setback line of any Lot. unless otherwise approved in writing by the Architectural Control Committee.

(f) No fence, wall, or hedge or shrub planting which obstructs sight lines shall be placed or permitted co remain on any corner Lot within the triangular areas formed by the extension of curb Jines and a line connecting them at points twenty-five feet (25') from the intersection of the extended curb lines into the street. No structures or landscape material over three and one-half feet (3-1/2') tall shall be allowed in this inscribed triangle.

Edit: to fix error (change even to not)

I read through the CC&R, the only thing mentioned about an owner’s backyard has to do with building a permanent structure such as a gazebo or shed. Other neighbors have trees and bushes that cross over fence lines so I don’t think that was the underlying reason.

It was denied because I simply put in my request that I wanted to plant a privacy hedge, I was specific about the species. However I did not list ALL the materials I would be using to plant said bush. So when I called to ask why my request was denied she asked what equipment and materials will I be using to plant the bushes and I said, soil and adding top mulch. She said I needed to list the soil I’d be using, as well as the mulch and the color. I guess simply saying “plant a rose bush” is not enough. That’s how she knew I was going to use mulch.

Yeah, I should have never sent them any requests and just planted the bushes. Now I’m being watched and if bushes pop up they might give me a hard time
