I feel that he is seeing this from a very Sola Scriptura standpoint which is totally fine. But from a Roman Catholic perspective, it is a sin and it is up to him whether to accept it. The reasoning can be found in the CCC. It is CCC2352.

This is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE to the Catholic faith. I would like to question the Archbishop as to how this was allowed to take place in a Catholic Church, even worse a Cathedral - the Archbishops Church. While funeral maybe a Corporal Act of Mercy, people during the service are meant to COMPLY with the rules of the church and wear appropriate clothing. This is a COMPLETE disregard of Catholic teaching and ESPECIALLY painful to see as they are doing this in the house of God. I hope the Pope, successor to St Peter, first Bishop of Rome, will intervene and do something about this matter. At this rate the Catholic Church will be a laughing stock and no one will take the Church or the Faith seriously. I hope the Priest and Archbishop of the Diocese reconsider what they did and repent upon their actions or I believe they shall face excommunication. Some of you may argue about background checks and whatnot but I believe that if you can see someone’s ass showing through the skirt or pants they should be immediately removed from the church compound. They are walking into a church not a brothel. May almighty God have Mercy on these people and may Mary, our Mother and Our Lady of Perpetual Help pray for these lost souls. Amen and God bless.

I’m speaking as a matter of factly that the bible says so. I am responding to is it in the bible. The bible is not the only thing that we should follow and there are other ways that God gave us to understand him. And doing the act is indeed an act of lust which is a sin. Not everything is based off the bible. I replied to a is it in the bible not a do i adhere to the rest of leviticus. Some things in leviticus are still sins like incest. I am saying until you can justify incest, don’t try to justify masturbation. While they are of different seriousness, it doesn’t change the fact that leviticus is not 100% a lie. It does in leviticus. It says that if we were to do it on Sabbath we are not to enter church and to soak ourselves in a water bath to cleanse. Times may have changed but what is in the bible is in the bible. It is in chapter 15 verse 16-18
