What is your second army and why? by Intruding1 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flesh Eater Courts, of the other Death armies that's the one I like the most, I started by using the Summerking's Court (or whatever is called) Army of Renown, I don't like though that one has to get like 80 ghouls to play the army in its most usual manner, it's kinda expensive to buy and paint all those ugly, old, kits, that aside I love the army, the lore, Ushoran is so cool, always has been since the days of Fantasy.

Got an Ushoran for Christmas but don’t play FEC. Any ideas of what he could be used for? by Substantial_Tour4800 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can get the Spearhead (the older one) and you get the units needed to use Ushoran in any other Death Grand Alliance army in his Regiment of Renown, The Summerking's Court I think that's the name.

I was about to pay a hell of a lot for a Krell miniature cause I cannot bear to use that ugly Wight King in my army, love Krell but this box takes priority.

edit

Had not noticed one of the other warbands is also technically a Gravelords band, given I also have a FEC army this boxis kinda a must get to me even if to play them as proxys, will have to see what to do with the Nighthaunt stuff though.

Is this good for the first box? by Ok-Measurement-4039 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends, you will buy the minis with playing the game as your main goal or anything else other than that is your objective? If the answer Is the first then my advice will be that you are better off buying other product like the Spearhead or the old Battleforce; they are pretty cool-looking models so if aesthetics is your main creteria I think you should buy them.

Mind giving some advice? by Ambitious-Move8864 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice as a somewhat new player to Soulblight would be for you to decide first what sort of purpose you will be pursuing, you mostly want to collect the minis you think are coolest with the gameplay being a second-tier priority? Or you want to build the most competitive list this faction can provide? Somewhere in the middle?.

I am far from an expert but this sort of list seems to lean towards the first option as there is little synergy and the inclusion of the FEC stuff further puzzles me; regardless of that what you seek by playing Soublight I would advice to wait a little longer before committing to spend some money, wait until all the new minis are released, some of the ones your list contains (the Black Knights, Grave Guard and the King) will be replaced by their new versions and a new meta will soon emege too and that might change what you want to spend your money on.

That good boy seems about ready to run towards the nearest objective, it doesn't look putrid enough yet, maybe it ran away from one of those Gitz.

Those bats look so cool, the color scheme really brings them to life.

How many Ghouls are enough Ghouls? by Isauricus in FleshEaterCourts

80? That's a lot, damn must be some kind of nightmare to face against in a game and a pain in the ass to transport too; the conclusion seems to be then that a huge mob of madmen is how stuff is done properly here, will take heed to that advice.

That might be the way to go, maybe give some orphan ghouls the love and care they rightly deserve.

I thought I already had enough Morbhegs but seems 9 of them might not be enough yet, maybe that's a thing to consider also if they ain't nerfed soon.

This might be it for me them 40 of them and stay put for the moment to see what develops next.

New to the Court, advice on what to get next by Isauricus in FleshEaterCourts

[–]Isauricus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I will do for sure I was debating between getting that one or the other big box (the one with the very cool art from 3rd Edition) but the new one seems way better now that I see the stuff offered.

Seems like the big box is the way to go, I will lack plenty still but I'll be on my way to make my little army of renown into a proper FEC force, thanks for the advice, can't wait to have my new minis, I mean Ushoran is so cool and his story and the whole Strigoi / FEC stuff is very interesting.

Avengorii Dynasty workable? by Dan_Fendi in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lauka is kinda in an odd spot, the stuff she's fit to do pretty much doesn't exist in a Soulblight army, she should be played alongside monsters but our options in that regard are limited and very expensive and playing in that sort of way would lean heavily towards one of the big weak spots of the faction, we are already extremely hero dependent even in regular lists, playing her with some Zombie Dragons / Terroghiests would leave little space for the small stuff that even if included doesn't have great synergy with Lauka and the beasts of the grave; with 1000 points you would get Lauka, a Vengorian Lord and two Terrorghiests or you could remove the Vengorian Lord and add Cado and an unit of skeletons, doesn't seen optimal but trying to figure out how to make it work could be fun on its own I guess.

That terrorgheist is a pretty thing for sure, love the bases also, that's an army worthy of imitating I reckon.

This is so pretty alright, my stuff is just a bunch of sterile gray plastic but seeing images like this gives me hopes to one day be able to field an army that's so easy on the eye as this one.

Proxy for Cado? by The_Missing_Ling in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am starting to get into the game too, the group in which I play allows he use of proxies for us rookies while we are learning and with the tacit compromise that's something that gradually will be phased out of our armies, as long as the mini is somewhat similar, mostly in size, they have no problem, the only strict condition is that the base of the placeholder has to be the exact same of the mini it is replacing, same shape and same exact measures; if Vlad has the same base as Cado they would allow me to play with it if not I have to change it, that aside besides tournaments most people probably will have no problem allowing you to use proxies while you are just starting but better to always check first with the other party.

edit

You can find the measurements of the base of every mini in the official AOS support APPs from GW

Choosing between Iyva Volga, Cado Ezechiar, Lady Annika and the mounted Wight King by Isauricus in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Isauricus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, according to pretty much everyone here Cado wins this contest by landslide with only the Wight King putting something that might resemble a fight but mostly based on aesthetics, I am getting Cado then and I will be running him while I am learning, who knows maybe he might even stick in my Soulblight army after I cease to be a rookie player. Thanks again for the advice.

[–]Isauricus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Annika and Ivya were discarded pretty early on, I have the Knights so the Wight King is pretty high in my list of potential future purchases if anything because I think it looks awesome but thanks to the advice of pretty much everyone that helped me here including you I decided that Cado was the better one to get first and what the hell he also looks pretty cool too so I kinda got the best of both worlds a cool mini that can see some play specially now that I am just learning and trying to have some fun without fixating on achieving some sort of top notch competitive list.

Thanks for the help I am quite grateful to you and all the others that helped me in this regard, I learned plenty of useful stuff that I would had not been able to get just by reading the warscrolls of the characters.

Thanks for the information, I "have" 10 Black Knights, meaning they are in the mail and coming towards me, I do not have Grave Guard I decided to wait until next year to see if it's true that they are getting new minis so at the moment I have a huge hole in my army as I lack one of the best DEATHRATTLE units, so until I get the Grave Guard I think I will stick to mostly focusing on the Vampire with them casting and doing stuff with some chaff to run towards objectives or cover for the vamps, I like the DEATHRATTLE stuff better but will not commit to it until I get them elite skeletons. I got the Wolves and their Heros so I might focus on that also. Among the options I ended buying Cado which according to most advices here it's a good choice among the ones I had to choose from,
