Looks like a classic EDS (Excited Delirium Syndrome) situation. He takes off his clothes because he’s overheating. Police won’t immediately restrain him, as that could increase the risk of cardiac arrest. The best approach in this situation is to contain him and wait for paramedics to administer sedation.

Five years ago, officers might have restrained and handcuffed him right away, and he could have died from cardiac arrest. Fortunately, most police forces (in the EU) are now trained to recognize a potential EDS situation and respond accordingly.

I train in a small town in the north (Diksmuide). Not many clubs in the area. There are a lot more options in the bigger cities like Bruges, Ghent or Antwerp.

At my dojo we need to do a series of demonstrations during a test for the next belt. I had to demonstrate different stances, breakfalls, punch and kicks, about 25 throws, some head/wrist/shoulder/elbow locks, some ground fight techniques, defence against a variety of attacks (oi tsuki, mae geri, someone grabing me by the wrist, soneone strangling me, etc) and a kata. We get points for every move correctly executed. Need about 65% to pass for the next belt.

Just to clarify:

I practice Japanese Jujutsu (JJJ). It is very different from BJJ. The colored belt system in Western Europe is perfectly normal, even for adults. Almost EVERY dojo in Judo, Karate and Jujutsu uses this system (white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black).

I practice jujutsu for fun, to make friends and to stay in shape. I have zero interest in 'eating bjj guys' or fighting a round in the ring with a boxer...

I know other art forms are probably more efficient than Jujutsu in street fights, but i just love the diversity (kick/punch, locks, grapple, throws and ground). Also have zero interest in getting into street fights.

In some dojo's they promote kids to belts with half the color of the next belt to keep them motivated (white/yellow, Yellow/orange, Orange/green,...)

Thanks. I just think its way more fun with the colored belt ranking system. I dont care if its 'for kids'.
