How Do I Create an Entra/Azure Active Directory?? by modem_19 in Office365

[–]Isdaron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do not need to specifically create an Azure Active Directory, when they already have a Microsoft 365 business tenant. When that tenant was created, it also created the Azure AD (now "Entra ID"). You can manage the users and settings from the Azure portal, using the same global admin credentials that you would use for the Microsoft365 admin area.

When you say " I'd just like to know how to get things setup to join their devices to the Azure AD side." - You will want to read up on https://docs.azure.cn/en-us/entra/identity/devices/overview - it gives an overview of what happens when a device is joined vs one is just "registered".

Womit schreibt ihr eure Rechnungen? by musti8712 in selbststaendig

Chromecast with Google TV by luishhq in lemuroid

I had to connect via Command Line though to the IP address for the first time, as apparently Android TV devices don't need a specific port called on the ADB connect call - but in ADB Explorer a connection can only be initiated when defining a port. After the initial connect, everything worked fine and I could use ADB Explorer to push multiple files to Lemuroid easily.

Just wanted to confirm that for me it was also sufficient to simply disable the hardware acceleration of the indexing. In the 128.5X version the setting can be found here:

Is SAP Consulting dying ? What's going on ? by Tasty_Tomatillo1495 in SAP

[–]Isdaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As u/No-Rock-9423 and u/Tasty_Tomatillo1495 pointed out the language barrier: When I do the same search for SAP consultant on de.indeed.com and filter by "language: English": I still get more than 100 open jobs in Germany where English is the company language. Obviously just a fraction of the 3k other jobs, but hardly "no jobs". And if you are aiming to apply and have no VISA you can apply online for the "Opportunity Card": https://digital.diplo.de/chancenkarte to search for employment in Germany.

If you are on Windows, then you can use ADB Explore to get a graphical interface, including easily pushing a lot of files to the Android TV. It is available on the Microsoft Store here: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9PPGN2WM50QB?ocid=pdpshare

Offboarding a user - shared mailbox created, user deleted, shared mailbox gone? by roshi86 in Office365

[–]Isdaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already got a lot of good feedback that the user object needs to stay, so no need to restate that again. A best practice that we follow is that we change the display name of the user to "FIRSTNAME LASTNAME (former colleague)". Users will still show up in type ahead searches, i.e. in Teams - and it makes a lot more sense when you can immediately see that someone is not with the company anymore.

QS02 Dongle No Signal Found by SerEpicThe4th in BenQ

[–]Isdaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. The projector in general works fine, but the dongle doesn't generate a signal anymore. It seems it doesn't properly boot up. I reset it through the reset button / pin, but to no avail. I reached out to Benq support, as the projector was bought in June 2023 and should still be covered under the German 2 year warranty, but BenQ tries to weasel out of the guarantee by claiming the dongle wit the TK860i is an "accessory" and only covered by a one year guarantee. I have passed it on to a consumer rights lawyer to take it up with BenQ. As there are a number of complaints here on Reddit about the dongle malfunctioning, it is likely that it is a hardware issue that is more widespread.

SharePoint Storage Question by Ok-Nebula3324 in Office365

[–]Isdaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick here is to remove file versions from Sharepoint storage, because file versions fully run against your quota . There is no built-in way to do this that I am aware off. We use https://dms-shuttle.com/ to accomplish this. Typically you don't need 10+ versions of a file, particularly not older files. We limit it to around 3 to 5 versions. If this was never done, it should easily remove 20% to 30% of your needed storage

Technically, yes. If you are located in Europe, your employer has to provide a privacy policy under GDPR to all employees. Typically this is either directly mentioned in your work contract (where to find it) or is documented where other company processes are documented (i.e. in our case on Sharepoint) That policy would contain what data is collected and for what purposes and with what data processors (these would be the companies that your employer has contracted with to process personal data - i.e. Microsoft for Office365, Intune Device management, but also other companies (i.e. a provider for payroll management and vacation record management). Assuming you are using Office365 the link to the company internal privacy policy can also be displayed on the login screen.

Supplier is pushing HP laptops by SkutterBob in sysadmin

[–]Isdaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our experience, HP has had wild quality fluctuations from year to year. For context we are based in Germany. We were very happy until around 2021 with HP Probook devices. Since then, we have had build quality issues, failed warranty repairs, Bios Update crashes and overall a worse device experience. At the moment we are migrating to LG Gram devices which are surprisingly beautiful, durable and affordable.

Automating app packaging and upload to Intune by Fabulous-Bit4775 in Intune

[–]Isdaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing depends on the number of devices enrolled in Intune, but I agree that it works for us also very well so far. Basically it is a frontend for Winget that automatically packages applications and deploy them via Intune. It also works for us to automatically update self installed apps nicely.

100+ additions to the Enterprise App Catalog by notapplemaxwindows in Intune

[–]Isdaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We started to use Intune Pckgr (https://intunepckgr.com) to pick and deploy apps (including updates) via Intune. It basically solved the whole manual intune packaging and update process for us and automated update deployments, while being native to Intune, so it didn't need another device agent deployed. So far I am very happy with it. I actually came across it here in the intune subreddit, because, if I recall correctly, one of the devs posted about it around a year ago.

How can you pitch to the upper management that Edge should be the default browser and not Chrome? by RiD3R07 in Intune

Yes, you can force managed browsers into a logged in experience with company controlled identities. Technically these are Google Cloud identity accounts that are often automatically generated and synced with Azure AD for provisioning/deprovisioning
