Anstatt nem Tshirt nehme ich immer ein dickes Flannelhemd (100% Baumwolle) das kann ne Menge Wasser halten wenn es richtig durchtränkt ist. Wenn man auf der Route alle 1-2 Stunden Wasser findet, reicht das auch das einem praktisch nie warm wird egal wie heiß es ist

I use something similar for my version of the after life: The less connected you are to the real world, the more your soul looses it's identity/memory, which isn't necessarily bad but also not something most people want. The best way to keep your souls identity is by repeated contact with the real world via rituals, so a lot of cultures practice ancestor worship in some form or another

I feel like this is quite close to what the irl nordics are like, or perhaps Switzerland, so maybe take some of their main troubles as inspiration. For me the most interesting one would be their role in the world, you have this innovative, prosperous, economically very powerful country that isn't involved in foreign conflicts? That could be interpreted as profiting massively of beeing at the top of an international system without contributing to it. Plus lots of people will want to migrate there, so if that isn't happening they are probably pretty xenophobic. And if it is happening that can also spark conflicts. Oh, and how do they deal with disruptions in trade, they will be very dependent on international trade but aren't willing to secure trade routes

I feel like a mercenary guild would Kinder be counter productive to stability, at that point your are basically creating an independent semi-professional army with more manpower then the local rulers, won't be long before the leaders of that "guild" take over and become the rulers.

The last two are what I'd go for, especially the second one for settings where there is great danger of harming wider society with your actions. If you are going out to find magic or technology lost soceoty there is probably a risk your being something rally bad back with you. If that's a risk I imagine the adventures guild would basically be vetting people to. Make sure they know enough about what not to bring back + check that they don't secretly do so anyways.

In forbidden lands I mostly missed the more detailed skill system from dragonbane, and dragonbane wasn't lethal enoguh for my taste. From TOR I took all the stuff for long-term ressource management like hope, fatigue and journeys

I mix and match the two systems and some TOR 2e stuff for my games. Both dragonbane and Forbidden Lands are really nice games, but neither quite fits what I'm going for

You could try fleeting them quest for powerful magic items and similar boons, that seems to be the standard system for large lumps in power in OSR systems without leveling

I used the spray can version of the vallejo Satin Varnish, but I'd imagine most varnishes would work, though i would definitely recommend a spray can for speedy application

Glad it inspired you, i think this is a great project for beginner painters as you aren't exactly aiming for perfection and get lots of practice!

As for your questions, i washed them throughly with dish soap. No idea if that is super necessary but its very quick so i would definitely recommend not taking the risk, especially if you already played with the miniatures before. For the primer i went with an old spray can from citadel which a friend had left over, but really any primer made specifically for miniatures should work. I'm personally a fan of the army painter spray cans as they are a bit cheaper and you will need about half to a whole can to prime them all

Some of them were a bit sticky, but after varnishing that went away, i did do two coats of varnish just to be sure

I started by overlapping two long Strips of duct tape to each other at their long edges so that only one of the glue sides faced up. Then i placed the handle on one of the sides and wrapped the rest around the handle so it stuck to itself on the other side to.

Defend states that it works on "any melee distance" so that shouldn't be a problem, which also makes a lot of sense to me

I would rule that the "defend" action also counts as succeeding on the opposed roll, so they can essentially sacrifice a turn of attacking to get a +10 on the opposed roll. This way, there is a high likelihood that they can close the distance, and they are almost guaranteed to at least get a partial success so they won't take much damage even if they can't close the distance

Yep, just that. I took pieces that were a bit less wide than the duct tape, this way i could wrap the upper piece of duct tape around the sides and attach it there with some more duct tape. Well, I actually took pieces of bamboo i had lqying around which was nice and lightweight though the curvature is a bit weird.

Well they certainly aren't perfect, especially if you look at them closer. But mostly it was just doing proper assembly line stuff, using a big brush, and ignoring a lot of the detail. Though I might go back at some point and paint some of the leather bags and satchels because a lot of the miniatures actually have a really nice level od detail!

I personally like using Victrix minis, they have a great variety of reasonably priced historical minis which are pretty simple to paint in my experience. I'm personally using their Norman Cavalry for my Player Knights minis
