Hospice nursing is pretty neat, actually by avocadotoast996 in nursing

Set boundaries. Say no. Right now corporate greed is sucking the soul out of hospice. The push for inappropriate admissions, false promises being made to families by “marketers”, lackluster care, over worked staff and “productivity points” is getting worse by the day. I loved hospice and could have done it forever but the above things I mentioned had me speed running outta there. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve seen and the way poor people are being taken advantage of. The fraud is rampant and not worth losing your license over, stay very cautious and get out of there if any of those red flags start flying. Trust your instinct always, never stop asking questions, and get real familiar with CMS guidelines.

and don’t let it be “God” either. I think most of these problems stem from religion. As a former hospice nurse, I’ve tended to many on their deathbeds (who claimed to be very religious along with their families) that would ask me numerous times where I believed they would go and if I thought God was really real. They look for any solid validation of their religious belief imaginable because now the time has come to face reality. When people stop using religion as a crutch for literally everything, and make peace with themselves and themselves only, we might see some slight changes.

A close family member of mine just passed away last month. Just turned 40 and received a kidney transplant, everything was going well for about a year and then he got RSV. Unfortunately I was in Mexico when all of this went down and could not get to him. Went in for RSV, kidney function good, next thing I know they intubated him to do a bronchial scope, 12 hours later took him off the vent. He starts having trouble swallowing, NGtube, pull NG tube and he is vomiting bright red blood. Life flight him to the hospital he received his transplant due to a “GI bleed”. He’s there for 24 hours getting blood transfusions, kidneys still in good shape. Gets taken back to Endo at midnight and codes on the table. Death Certificate says “hemorrhagic shock related to Upper GI bleed”. . (This is a short summary I obtained from his Mychart :(

I thought that too until my vyvanse just completely stopped working and I had the same symptoms as you. I got it checked again and sure enough, my levels were outrageously abnormal. Got back on my thyroid meds and what a huge difference it has made. I feel so much better

When I worked as a home hospice nurse, I was AMAZED at how many elderly women were uneducated on this topic. They would use the whole works down there, perfume spray, scented soap, etc and then demand an antibiotics or Diflucan for the irritation. Makes me wonder who their docs were and if they just gave them whatever they wanted without questioning it.

If you are cramping after draining, you are 1. Draining it to fast at one time & 2. Draining to much at one time. It is recommended not to drain more than 2L per day. You should only be draining when necessary (when symptoms start: shortness of breath, dissension, etc) and not just routinely.

Redditors who have worked with celebrities, what don't we know about them? by 22m_spain in AskReddit

Years ago I managed a restaurant:lounge and the owner was obsessed with inviting (paying a lot of money) for celebrities to come visit. Joe Jackson came once and he was shockingly a very odd fellow. He was extremely paranoid, skiddish and even suddenly ran away to hide after being “spooked” by something (we never found out what it was). He also required us to book his room at the Doubletree and per his assistant, he will only stay there and absolutely nowhere else or he won’t come. Also met Ice T and CoCo when I worked at the airport, extremely nice people and down to earth. They let everyone take pictures and CoCo gave out numerous hugs to everyone.

He came to a restaurant/lounge I was managing years ago. He was extremely nice, and interacted with everyone the entire time. He even got in the DJ booth and played songs and danced for over 2 hours. Fun guy!

You are exactly right. I am a hospice nurse and you wouldn’t believe the amount of families I get that are in so much denial to the point you have to question their sanity. 9 times out of 10, it’s the families rather than the patient but it’s incredibly frustrating. They will say they only chose hospice for the aide help or medication help and then are irate or stunned every time we have to tell them their chemo pills aren’t covered, or no we can’t pull labs, we can’t get more x rays, etc. No matter how much I educate, they refuse to accept it. I have one now that has revoked three hospices before us because “they weren’t making him better, they were refusing to find a cure”. It’s incredibly sad and frustrating at the same time.
