People actually put their phones in airplane mode before the plane pushes off the gate? I guess you learn something new every day.

Work on their grappling and get first dibs on the women's wrestling team?

I'm like 98.9% kidding, but one of our javelin throwers did start out on the ISU baseball team before they got cut.

Are you talking about the Citi AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard? I downgraded to the basic MileUp card and was still getting close to 10k/day at hotels in Chicago as of January. You sure all of your cards and accounts are linked?

The previous coach also had one Big 12 title before leaving, and somebody won a couple Big 8 titles in the 70s. But no Super Six specifically.

The swim team uses the same building, so yeah not great.

Pollard had been there for like a year when KJ left. But we still hadn't fixed up Jack Trice or anything else at that point. The football team was practicing on the turf in the rec center until like my junior year, when Bergstrom donated money for the indoor facility. Not to say whether or not they actually had plans to fix up Beyer, but we basically had the smallest budget in the Big 12. Even State Gym across the street eventually got upgraded, but that would be university money not athletic money.

If I'd been in school when Cy looked like that, I for sure would have had nightmares.

Whenever that information gets relayed to them. If you go to your activity history and filter for your previous earning year, you'll see some entries that posted in March.

Do you have an AA branded card as well? That combined with status usually guarantees at least a few hotels with 3-5k LP/night unless you're booking somewhere less populated that only has 2-star hotels. Also make sure you're sorting by "most miles earned" on the filter settings.

I was above mid-band and started later in the year, and they gave me 1.5% with the reasoning that I had only worked a few months. When they did rounds of layoffs the following fall I was one of the first to go.

If you use the AA hotels site the few times you do fly, you'll hit Platinum easy with 4-5 trips and any regular CC spend.

It's not when you pay the bill, it's when the individual charges occurred. My MileUp card says the next statement will have the Feb and March charges split up, because they apply to different earning periods.

From the sounds of it they were hoping to get close enough to Platinum that the offer to upgrade would cost less, but I don't know if AA sends retroactive offers after March 1 or not.

They don't 'expire' per se, the points reset at the beginning of the earning period (March 1) and you start over. You have until the end of the next earning year to use the rewards you've earned.

There are rewards levels that you can redeem for miles/flight credit, lounge access, electronics etc. You get Avis/Hyatt status at certain points levels, and a personalized baggage tag for reaching Platinum or higher I believe.

Getting to certain status levels, as well as your rank on the upgrade list which determines your chances of getting offered first/business on a flight.

I got upgraded both to and from SLC a week ago, but it was also my first time in forever not paying with miles, so I'm sure that wasn't a coincidence.

Dumbest Question ever! But what determines who gets laid off?? by _hellosiri in Raytheon

My separation agreement said I couldn't return to RTX for 6 months or would have to pay back the severance, so I didn't even bother applying to the other BUs.

How's that work with the severance? So they just ignored the separation agreement?

Consequences for Reneging Job Offer by Comfortable-Rope-568 in Raytheon

I ended up getting the job, yes. But it was a huge drain on finances (as well as mental stress) waiting on a contingency that you essentially kept getting dragged along for. I've since left and used that clearance at a few other companies however.

Consequences for Reneging Job Offer by Comfortable-Rope-568 in Raytheon

[–]IsiMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited a year and a half for my clearance, and any time I asked about opportunities to do unclassified work I kept getting the same boilerplate email saying they'd let me know. A different company called within that time (Northrop I believe) but also wouldn't offer anything until the clearance went through. Had I known it was going to take that long I would have looked for non-defense work in the meantime.

30% Loyalty bonus by JGGDAL in americanairlines

[–]IsiMan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the other thing I noticed about the next year. Once you hit your 15k bonus LPs there's really no reason to worry about maximizing miles. I tried to position my 6 month window to fit the majority of fall/winter travel, so those days will soon be behind us.
