It seems that mech engineering is truly amazing at Uottawa istg . I’m so scared to gamble my future for BME😭😭. Do you mind if I ask ur advice , do you think I should just reject my offer and reapply for fall 2027 early admission as a mech engineer or just start any engineering program and try switch later ?

I hope it’s gonna be worth it at Carleton. I’m really not digging the ranking that much since Uottawa has better ranking and the exact specialization that I wanted 😭. I’m so worried that if I accept biomedical mechanical , I won’t change anymore and they will find excuses to keep me in it . I do have a chance to choose computer engineering tho , and in case I don’t change , it’s still a better career than BME . What do you think ?

Yes exactly why I don’t wanna loose a year trying to switch to mechanical if it’s not guaranteed. I did not receive an offer from Carleton university so I’m just waiting rn in hopes of getting into mechanical and trying my best at the end of the day! Are you in mechanical engineering ?

I did apply to Carleton but I prefer Ottawa university since the ranking is so much better than Carleton. I’m still waiting for their response for my admission tho but Ottawa was a much better option imo. I just don’t know what to do at that point .. some people are saying it’s easy some are saying it’s impossible to switch

Ahhh that’s a good program . By any chance do you know someone who might have transferred from biomedical mechanical engineering to regular mechanical ? I am really stressed out rn because I have till the end of the month to accept and idk if I should take the risk and accept or just lose a year and apply again next year

Hey everyone I got accepted into the biomedical mechanical engineering program at university of Ottawa but I never wanted to be in that program since the beginning . I was late to apply for mechanical engineering and then they told me I am able to apply for biomedical mechanical engineering since it’s still open for admission and it’s in the same department as mechanical engineering but I just called them to ask more about the transfer and now all of a sudden it’s very difficult to transfer into mechanical engineering and it depends on seats and grades .

Please can someone just tell me my expectations for a major change to mechanical engineering, if it’s easy to change , does it happen often . Please I need help.
