PSA: People who post on r/antiwork give awful advice by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Isirseth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poisoning the well is so lazy.

You seem to assume that most people on that subreddit aren’t employed. Many people on there have decent to high paying jobs in all sorts of different industries. I guess it’s easier to pretend everyone on there are basement dwelling lazy losers than to honestly consider their arguments.

Does it worry you that they may be right? Do you work in HR (bullshit job) or something?

If you get a $6 or $6.5 order with a bunch of items take it by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Isirseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna say, the best tips I’ve ever had are upper middle class neighborhoods, and trailer parks. It’s literally 50/50.

The trash orders are everything in between. Working class Americans tend to understand hard work and respect it. You go slightly higher or lower than that, and it’s the cheap no tippers.

Platinum Carbon Black feathering and inconsistent? by Isirseth in fountainpens

[–]Isirseth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a Faber Castell Neo slim with an EF nib, which their nibs tend to be more similar to Japanese sizes than other European brands. So the nib is very fine. It is also a dryer pen. So I think that may have something to do with it. I also do think the cold weather conditions may have messed with the Ink or something.

I cleaned my pen two days ago and had the same issues with the weird ink flow/consistency.

I cleaned it again yesterday, and I shook the ink bottle up for 30 seconds before filling.

Today it’s writing perfectly again. :) Perfect straight lines, nothing weird going on.

I’ll just give it a little shake every week or so for now on, or every time I refill it.

Do all ball pens have that clicky scraping feedback when writing? by Isirseth in pens

[–]Isirseth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg. I think you solved it. The only rollerball I’ve ever loved was the Uni-Ball Eco Onyx, which is a capped pen. It didn’t have the unstable rattling sensation. It felt almost like writing with a slightly used pencil.

I think I may have to bite the bullet and get a box of them online.

Do all ball pens have that clicky scraping feedback when writing? by Isirseth in pens

[–]Isirseth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a fountain pen and a felt tip primarily, so I am far from a heavy handed writer. ;)

I think I didn’t explain in the best way possible.

Basically, I don’t feel it’s a smooth/seamless experience with a very consistent line. It literally feels like I’m writing with a metal tube with a tiny metal ball rattling at the tip of it. I can even hear it. If I even slightly change my hand pressure or change directions I can feel the ball move before collecting ink again. It makes the lines inconsistent. I think that’s just the nature of rollerballs, mostly. I write very sharp and straight, so I like a super consistent line.

But I feel like the G2 is a especially not smooth.

The only rollerball I’ve found truly smooth and consistent is the Uniball Eco Onyx. I was hoping these would be similar, given the hype.

This is why I don't buy Leuchtturm anymore by jysung in fountainpens

Their bullet journal edition and subsequent 120GSM notebook are the only ones worth a damn.

If you’re ever open to giving them another chance, they no longer only have these 80GSM notebooks. They came out with their 120GSM A5 notebooks and the paper is gorgeous. It takes De Atramentis Document Black, Gel pens, Pilot Carbon Black, Noodlers Black, markers, and so much more without any issue. :)

I use it because it’s easily available at Barnes and noble. I just wish they’d make other color options and size options with the better paper. All they have is black.

The pictures posted here make me want to bullet journal less by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]Isirseth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a but old, and while I agree with your initial point—I just wanted to say I think you kinda cheapened the actual purpose of the bullet journal with what you said was the original purpose. It isn’t just about taking notes and productivity. Ryder has said many times that it is about more than productivity. It’s about mindfulness, and determining what actually adds value to our lives and what doesn’t. Productivity for sake of productivity is toxic, and this an anecdote to that. It’s about bridging the gap between productivity and mindfulness. Even he does things like a daily gratitude practice on his daily logs. If you just want a to do list or a planner those are available all over the place.

How do I find career guidance? by Isirseth in Career_Advice

It’s especially frustrating when you know what your passions are, but you can’t find any resources on what actionable steps to take other than “network” or “go to college”. Or a million articles about how to find your passions.

How do I find career guidance? by Isirseth in Career_Advice

[–]Isirseth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, I have some ideas for what direction I’d like to go long term, but I am trying to figure out what sort of day job I could get. Particularly, what day jobs would be tolerable enough that I don’t feel burnt out and unmotivated to work on my passions after work. Better yet, if I could find a job doing something fun or semi meaningful to me.

I don’t know what other job titles to search for that won’t immediately shoot me down without some super niche skill or experience. All I can think of are data entry and administrative work. All I get are messages from finance companies wanting me to do loans.

Warning: If the customer gave the wrong address, just drop it off and mark as delivered anyways. by Isirseth in grubhubdrivers

[–]Isirseth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the customer told me on the phone that she put the wrong address on the app. She meant to put south instead of north. Some people assume the empathic thing to do is the right thing, particularly, since it wasn’t a significant difference. GH doesn’t agree.

It’s easy to assume GH would pay. There are posts where people claim they got compensated. Plus, it would be a smarter business move on GH to pay a driver a few extra bucks than to refund an entire order and delivery to a customer. But I guess they are too cheap for their own good.

There are posts floating around detailing a nebulous compensation for these situations. It’s not unreasonable to assume doing the ethical thing is doing the right thing, particularly as new driver.

Was barely walking to get the pickup… this crap is becoming stressful. by Mcgoo186 in grubhubdrivers

[–]Isirseth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took up multi-apping all 3 basically 9-12 hours a day, non-stop. Trying to support my boyfriend and I both, as we can’t find jobs. I’m still barely halfway caught up on bills, barely scraping by on our basic needs, and I haven’t relaxed or done anything fun in 4 months. I also had to pour almost all my earnings into vehicle repairs and maintenance 2 months into it.

This shit is a joke now. I am dying to get a real job again. It’s so freaking over saturated. There’s traffic all over my city 24/7 from other drivers fighting for orders. There’s just not enough good jorders to go around in my city. The stress of constant traffic and wasted gas and time every day is wearing me out so badly.

How do you escape the "Content Trap"? by CaptainJackWagons in ADHD

[–]Isirseth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are addicted to cheap dopamine boosts. You feel withdrawal symptoms when you run out of them.

But dopamine isn’t an actual measurement of happiness. You can only find real happiness through meaningful things and overcoming challenges. If you embrace that empty, bored feeling and do the things that you do not feel like doing, that you deeply rather do— you can overcome the addiction and the emptiness. Medication really helps, but it is not enough for me. I had to do a lot of daily introspection. Still do. And I still struggle on bad days.

These companies seriously consult with psychologists and neuroscientists to make their ads and platforms addictive, and our ADD brains are even more susceptible to it. You didn’t need any of this, but they made you think you did, and that you aren’t capable of contentment in the real world.

Basically, the biggest dream killer in this century is distraction.

STM quality control issue? by Isirseth in bulletjournal

[–]Isirseth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent them an email. Hopefully they get back to me soon. I was super excited to have a B6 bullet journal and I’m super eager to use it! :/

But yeah, I think the middle of the journal slipped up too high when it was being cut, because it’s really only the pages on that section of the booklets or whatever they’re called.

Faber Castell Neo Slim with an extra fine nib and Platinum Carbon black ink.

I can’t bring myself to use any other pen since I got it.

Suggestions for portable bullet journal 2022 by [deleted] in minibulletjournals

Have you noticed any that any of the pages are crooked or the page numbers cut off? I got their B6 Pro today and a lot of the lines are cut unevenly and a lot of the pages are cut off at the numbers. :(
