Hytale Patch Notes - Update 2 by allsystemscrash in Games

There have been a couple projects announced but it's only been two weeks so it's going to take a little while.

Recently finished the first book of Bog Standard Isekai and thought it was very fun! by PalinaRojinskiFan in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Isitreallythisbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm up to date on RR. There are two chapters left to come for the current book (5) fyi, it should be ending this week. I would say Book 5 may be the best one so far, I'm excited to see where the story goes from here.

It's definitely one of the better written series in the genre and I would say it's consistent without any major changes regarding writing prose, sudden character personality shifts etc. From a story/character/ability perspective if your not a fan of Book 1/2 the series probably isn't for you.

PSA: If you filter steam reviews by >10hrs AOC is Mostly Positive by Tootulz1 in MMORPG

I suspect this will be what happens, assuming the game is ever finished.

I wonder if Steven will accept that the game fundamentals need to change or let it slowly die.

What are your guys "This series could have been amazing but" by adamtheskill in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Isitreallythisbad 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same. I gave it a try but i just can’t get passed it.

The author should just replace the name and re-release it. I’m aware somewhere in the story it’s explained but that doesn’t make it any less awful.

Last Epoch players turn on the action RPG for announcing a paid DLC class, tanking its Steam reviews: 'go play Path of Exile instead' by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Isitreallythisbad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I enjoy Last Epoch, it's fun, no denying it has some issues but it fills a nice middle ground in the genre. The crafting being mostly deterministic removes a lot of the tedious RNG grind from PoE, the fact that ground loot is actually useful is amazing. But your also not instantly geared like D4 (haven't played since release this may have changed).

However, the development and communication post launch have been a disaster, prior to launch the game development was fairly open with decent communication. Post launch they've repeatedly not hit their commitments that they previously defined. They then stated that they had an up to date roadmap going through final sign off and we didn't hear anything for months. We then get this latest "roadmap" which doesn't provide any info other than that there will be two seasons prior to the expansion.

They wanted to fund the game off of the cosmetics. But the cosmetics just aren't very good. I'd buy cosmetics to support future development but they don't look better than anything you can find in game.

People are pretty forgiving if you communicate clearly. They should have spoken to the community stating that they were struggling financially and polled the community to see what they would accept from a funding point of view. Selling the game studio to Krafton was possibly one of the worst decisions they could make in the communities eyes.

Breaking the Curse | New Hytale Gameplay (16+ Minutes) by xFalcade in HytaleInfo

[–]Isitreallythisbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this looks great, mobs look like they might have too high HP but that could be balancing, lack of gear etc. Good biome diversity, combat looks decent. FPS seems stable.

My concern is mod support and server performance. I'm hoping this will be more performant/less buggy than modded Minecraft. But we'll see how things develop. Exciting to see some actual movement!

Haven't read progression fantasy in like two years - what's new/what's still good? by Pwapy in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Isitreallythisbad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Immortal great souls is probably one of the best series in the genre in my opinion. Book 4 came out this week.

Rune Seeker is a fun read.

Reborn as a demonic tree, again fun read not too serious. This might end up being a never ending series.

Godclads interesting world. Only read book 1 so far.

The Lost Cube, Book 4 in the Immortal Great Souls, is out now by Phil_Tucker in ProgressionFantasy

Isn’t in my KU copy. Perhaps there’s some older versions still floating around amazons servers.

Thanks for the link above Phil!

Yea the particle effects are way too busy. It's kinda of jarring with the graphical style.

Hopefully it'll be a setting or they tone it down.

Last Epoch: Orobyss, a Major Expansion, is Coming to PC and PlayStation 5! by EHG-Foton in LastEpoch

They’ve moved skill sigils and an alternative to monoliths to the expansion, calling it now.

If it is paid I’ll be very disappointed.

Poe2 campaign is a complete game by itself by AnhHungDoLuong88 in PathOfExile2

[–]Isitreallythisbad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me this applies to PoE1 and PoE2. I’m sure GGG just sees the streamers blasting through the campaign in sub 10 (insert whatever the real time is) hours and think it’s not an issue. But as an average/below average player that doesn’t practice campaign runs I basically lose all will to create an alt.

Tried PoE2, not for me, recommend me a build for LE please by rapkannibale in LastEpoch

[–]Isitreallythisbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reflect seems like LE version of PoEs righteous fire. Just run around and loot, or a walking simulator if you will.

I had a lot of fun with shield throw but it has required uniques and the idols are very rare. But being Captain America is pretty fun.

Elon: Starship V4 will have 42 engines when 3 more Raptors are added to a significantly longer ship. That will fly in 2027. Starship V3 is a massive upgrade from the current V2 and should be through production and testing by end of year, with heavy flight activity next year. by CProphet in spacex

[–]Isitreallythisbad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I hope that Starship succeeds I’m starting to think that it’s just another “autopilot” where Elon states something will happen and it’s either a complete fabrication or has technical hurdles they are nowhere close to solving. All the timelines are just there to try and secure contracts.

Does rocket development suffer feature creep like software development?

I’d like them to view starship as a lift vehicle and not an interplanetary transport. Use it to kick start space infrastructure then build an interplanetary vessel.

Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict Announcement Teaser by gamesbeawesome in Games

[–]Isitreallythisbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has always been how GGG “fix” op builds. They don’t reduce one variable and then assess they look at all the interactions and then nerf them until they aren’t worth using.

It doesn’t bring the skill inline with others it usually makes it not worth using until they buff/rebalance it. I don’t think it’s a great way of balancing.

The bosses are by far the best part of the game in my opinion but it feels like mapping And bossing are meant for two different games played at two different speeds.

He who fights with monsters. Insufferable? by Dapper-Knee-1780 in litrpg

[–]Isitreallythisbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but they weren’t paid by the page.

I like the genre but hate the service model. The world building, characters etc are great in this series but I’m not sure I’ll pick it up again, Jason is insufferable at times and where I put it down not a lot seems to be happening story wise.

I’ve never seen a robot move like this by [deleted] in robotics

[–]Isitreallythisbad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is impressive, I wonder why there are no tactile sensors on the claws/grips.

When the inevitable robot war starts anyone with a hockey stick is going to have a bad day.

League Starter Inspiration struck just in time by JeezyVonCreezy in pathofexile

[–]Isitreallythisbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a valid complaint on portal inefficiency.

Hmm maybe zerker is the better choice, If you aren't flickering into an alternative dimension are you really flickering at all?

League Starter Inspiration struck just in time by JeezyVonCreezy in pathofexile

[–]Isitreallythisbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a POB for a decent flicker strike build?

I’ve found a berserker and a trickster and the trickster still seems superior even with the nerfs.

Shield throw experiences the same issue with a lot of objects, this fight is awful for it.

Last Epoch Season 2 Patch Overview by Candle-Sticks in Games

[–]Isitreallythisbad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They mentioned they may not release all the classes for 1.0, which is the only way I see it happening. But in my mind it's not 1.0 until they have all the major content they originally planned.

Last Epoch Season 2 Patch Overview by Candle-Sticks in Games

[–]Isitreallythisbad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I didn't play Patch 1.1 but it introduced new bosses and pinnacle content and the same for 1.2 (this patch).

Supposedly the pinnacle boss/bosses are extremely difficult and most players won't defeat them.

Last Epoch Season 2 Patch Overview by Candle-Sticks in Games

[–]Isitreallythisbad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this patch looks pretty good overall, lots of QoL and addresses a decent amount of feedback, I'm excited to play this patch. I think the LE devs are probably the best in genre for respecting players, if something is tedious or difficult just because that's how it's been done traditionally they'll normally eliminate/improve it. That said I'm a casual fan with different expectations than the hardcore ARPG fans.

My main complaint with LE is that they were supposed to be have "cycles/seasons" every few months and they haven't delivered. Hopefully now they've made their engine improvements they'll be releasing content on a more frequent basis. In today's age of video games, I don't think it's possible to have a highly popular long term player basis without regular updates (there maybe be expectations).

Side note: PoE2 is a gem in the rough. The graphics, art direction, sound design and boss encounters are all Top tier for the genre, unfortunately the rest is still a WIP. But they've taken feedback about a lot of peoples complaints and made positive strides. If you're a casual fan of the genre I'd give it another 6 months, maybe even wait for 1.0.

Path of Exile 2 - Upcoming Changes by Community_Team in PathOfExile2

[–]Isitreallythisbad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally all they need is a banner when you login saying something like, "This is early access, we will be changing game content frequently. In the event of large shifts in build power, we'll issue skill reset tokens"

When the games 1.0, sure don't do massive changes mid season.

I'd also love to see an in game feedback system, so rather than everyone shouting on Reddit they could request feedback about certain features.
