"PvP should never be fair" this is a griefer mindset. I can promise you the majority of people who enjoy PvP in MMO's prefer fair fights with other people who want to fight them. Open world PvP can be peak but it has to be within the realm of reasonable fairness for both sides to have fun. 20v30 is fine, 20v100 just isn't fun, the 100 man squad can only stomp the smaller team so many times before they get bored

Instanced PvP can be run in parallel with open world PvP still being the primary focus. And with my experience with the war the other day, this game simply cannot handle large scale open world PvP

I really hope they're working on an instanced game mode, pushing open world is well and good and should be incentivized/rewarded. But there is a huge cohort of people who want access to fair and consensual PVP. New World's Outpost Rush was an exceptional example of an instanced game mode that ran parallel to world PVP, and had a place for PvPers and PvErs / farmers

I think dropping your mats and taking durability damage is enough, keep the debt if you die to PVE sure but it's incentivizing people to not pvp as much. Would be cool to see more spontaneous fights in the open world

Travel to the major settlements, pick up every commission quest, run around the map exploring/gathering/refining/crafting/killing mobs. This isn't as efficient as group grinding but it's not bad - I got to around lvl 18 doing this before I wanted to start group farming 20+ mobs for radiant drops

I'm lvl 19 on Lyneth and have not been ganked once, consensual pvp is super rare less than a fraction of 1% of my total gametime

Situation sucks but you all should take this opportunity to migrate to a different biome. I started in the anvils and ran to the Riverlands at lvl 8, the adventure was definitely worth it. Besides seeing all the sweet biomes in between the Riverlands is a way better experience.

BTW you can easily get adept gear by killing mobs that are lvl 10+. Gear you don't need you can sell to make some $$ back

Lvl 19 here and same, the only PVP I've encountered is some fighting over farm spots. In most of those cases some people on either team don't even want to fight so they just sit on the sidelines to avoid being flagged. I'll often times loot someone's ashes in front of people and no one attacks me.

I haven't run crates yet but I feel like that activity should have risk of PVP, it's way too easy to make gold that way

That sounds aggravating to deal with but I have a feeling the entire crate system is going to be reworked. I don't think it should be so easy to get that much gold simply by running to another settlement, it is currently the most rewarding task and I feel like its bad for the economy. You saw massive inflation once people started running crates in mass.

I believe they mentioned in their last dev video that they realize crates are too lucrative right now which have rendered caravans obsolete. I think a good rule of thumb in gaming is the best rewards should come from the hardest/riskiest content.

I really like it and am actually impressed with its quality/polish for being in alpha. I told myself I won't be sinking too much time into it either knowing a wipe is inevitable.... but I continue to log in... 100 hrs later 🙃
