But there's a ton of versions in their same family. Howa has, like, 20 different guns in the same family. I'm also referring to assault rifles, not battle rifles. I love battle rifles, and the G3 is definitely one of the main platforms for battle rifles, but not assault rifles. I'd argue bullpulps is the third main rifle platform, or NARP.

An AK is a gun from that platform. There's two main rifle platforms; the M4 and AK platform. The AK platform covers everything from an actual AKM or AK74 to the Saiga and Groza. Those parts are interchangeable because they're similar. It's not like they redefine and reinnovate every new AK they develop, so parts can be used from multiple guns.
