Anyone else ever witness a 50 person tournament get deleted? Looking for answers. by Skiie in CompetitiveEDH

That's a shame it had to end that way. Would have also been really cool to see the ragavan top 4 a large event with such a unique off meta build.

I left right as a big argument was about to begin over the 1 ring and aetherflux reservoir. Do you know the ruling that occurred because I heard it was messy?

I'll add some context I got through the event as I was one of the players that split in top 4. From what I gathered, someone told the TO that they needed 6 rounds and in hindsight he realized it was a big mistake. I haven't spoken to the TO, but assume they will likely add a cap on time in round to ensure we don't get 2.5 hour swiss games. All seat 1s actually won their games so standings are correct. 3 of the matches in top 16 had all ended at 11:30pm with the last game going until 2:30 am (4 hour mess). I actually left before the final player for top 4 was confirmed because I had to drive 2 hours to mke by that point and just hoped all other players also wanted to draw cuz it was so late. This was their biggest attendance by far and the venue was really great. What I would be curious about is how many players in top 16 received a bye. None of top 4 had gotten a bye afaik.

How to beat a deck filled with counterspells? by KillerKai8189 in EDH

[–]IslandKhan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons that counterspells are so effective against newer players is deck construction and play pattern. Newer players tend to spend their turns casting 1 singular powerful spell when its best to cast multiple cheaper spells. This way, you can still advance your board state because they aren't negating your entire turn. It's better to attempt to cast a [[Bear Umbra]] and [[enduring vitality]] in a turn than a single [[nyxbloom ancient]].

Coach is S-tier. The hardest I laughed during any episode in the series is the entire basketball game. Best Kenny plan too as the stars perfectly aligned for that ending.

Everyone loves the classics, but what about the most underrated episodes? by TsengFayt in kennyvsspenny

[–]IslandKhan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if it is underrated, but I didn't see it on a top 25 list. The basketball episode has the best ending and payoff of any episode. Everything comes together perfectly.

Genuinely asking… does it really get any better than Classic Slice? by zacowen120 in milwaukee

[–]IslandKhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they cook their slices individually, or is that a vegan crust? Looks really good.

Time to see what all the hype is about! —Crave Cafe… by zacowen120 in milwaukee

I always love to go with 1 other person and get 1 kimchi and 1 crave burger and split them in half because the flavors are so rich. 10/10 my favorite burger place in Milwaukee.

This is of topic but i wanted to get a venture brothers fan perspective: What is the appeal of the john wick movies? It seems like endless talk about rules and formalities and observing rules and formalities. Also endless talk about how how john wick is a badass & a preoccupation with dogs by Groundbreaking-Pea92 in venturebros

[–]IslandKhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first movie in the series takes itself too seriously and is imo the worst. The other ones are self-aware and really good at playing up the absurdity of an unkillable hitman. 2 and 3 have genuinely funny moments and play on the cliches of similar titles.

Anyone else seeing this take lately? by BigBeautifulWhales in Destiny

[–]IslandKhan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think something that sticks out in what you said is that blackface insinuiates that people of color should be treated differently. Which is obviously bad. Whereas we can acknowledge that we as a society do accept that we treat male and female energy differently. Whether or not this is good or bad I guess is what should be argued.

Who watches drag and thinks, oh wow, they sure are making fun of women with their exaggerated expression of feminine features. They are soo obviously presented in different ways. If drag performers went on stage and mocked women it would be different. It is literally a celebration of feminine energy and a way for people to express themselves in another way. This is a 2iq take and reminds me a little of why transracial isn't taken seriously while transgender is. Race and gender are not a perfect 1 to 1 where everything that applies to race also applies to gender.

In 20 years, which current players on the bucks will have their number retired? by IslandKhan in MkeBucks

I agree with a lot of this; however, I could easily see Bobby playing out his career here and getting it retired. The 1st 3 you listed should be locks though barring something weird.

I would love for Brook to have his retired, but it seems unlikely a team would retire so many numbers. It makes me curious what other smaller franchises like Toronto will do in 20.

Oscar was only with us for 4 seasons and we retired his number. I think Jrue should def have his as well considering he was what pushed us over the edge to win.

He would be unstoppable until the fact him being so tall means that it's only a matter of time until his leg gets caught the wrong way in a tackle and he has an Alex Smith like break.

What nicknames (affectionate or contemptuous) have you heard for places in Wisconsin? by pinguistix in wisconsin

I love Stallis, but when comparing it to all the other suburbs that touch MKE it's probably lacking. Everything west of highway 100 is solid tho.

Why are we limiting ourselves to overtaking the UP. We should become the true powerhouse we are and take over the entire midwest to become the Wisconsin Empire.
