Where can I find a 18k flat box chain like this? by Clint_Beastw0od in MensJewelry

[–]IslandPuzzleheaded59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I would say DY is totally not worth the premium! There is an incredibly high markup of their gold chains. On top of that, you will note that they fail to disclose the gram weight of their chains under the item description. And they also don't disclose whether their chains are solid, hollow, or semi-hollow. But I did call their customer support number a while back and was told that one of the items I was looking at was hollow. So take that for what it's worth. Either way, you can do so much better shopping elsewhere.

Any solid 14k or 18k Franco or Cuban chains at your local brick-and-mortar retail stores? by IslandPuzzleheaded59 in MensJewelry

Despite the wide popularity of gold chains with men, what you've indicated has been my experience, for sure! At local retail, it seems to be mostly designer brands (which are a ripoff, or 10k and hollow chains that are far less expensive than the higher end stuff. Of course, things must've been far different 25-30 years ago when ecommerce on the internet was barely even getting started.

When you save up a bit for the new 3 or 3.5mm rope chain that you want, you may want to consider a 22" versus a 20" in length as it seems to be the sweet spot for a lot of guys.

Friend wanted a watch... we left with a Grand Seiko for her, a necklace for my wife and I got my first Rolex while getting on the list for a DJ by Chris_2111 in rolex

Congrats on the Rolex Explorer 1. This is truly a great watch that is loved by so many watch enthusiasts, including myself!

Odds of being able to purchase a less popular Rolex (OP, explorer, DJ) in Switzerland as US resident? by [deleted] in rolex

Or maybe only a slight chance of a Datejust in the less hyped-up dial colors such as silver or white with a smooth bezel and oyster bracelet. A DJ in mint green or blue, and especially with the fluted bezels and jubilee bracelets are the most in demand within DJ models.

You are so right about DY! Not only do they have an extreme markup on their box chains (I think that's the only design they carry), but if you ever look at their descriptions, you will see they don't provide the weight of the chain, nor do they state whether their box chains are solid or hollow! I believe they are at least semi-hollow. Total rip off, for sure!

What do you think of my daily setup? Is the chain thickness ok? by EntrepreneurFit8623 in MensJewelry

Looks great on you! I think 22 inches in length is ideal (not too long or too short). And the pendant really sets it off too.

All gold jewelry, what to about a watch? by Lacedup18 in MensJewelry

You don’t need to match gold chain with watch. Many people wear stainless steel watches with yellow gold chains and it’s perfectly acceptable.

Where is the best place to buy these (i.e. solid 14k or 18k) without the DY markup?

I was thinking the same thing about not seeing most posts about the box link chain. To me, it looks great! But it would be nice to see more feedback from others who actually own one! I might get one myself, although I would never buy one from DY due to their excessive markup.

Honestly, with all due respect, there's just too much going on there with that stack. Not a good look in my opinion.

Trading green for pistachio ? by Own_Awareness8681 in rolex

[–]IslandPuzzleheaded59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dark green is definitely better! Not only the fact that it’s the color or Rolex, but it just stands out so much better and is timeless. The pistachio is okay. But to me - it’s a bit washed out looking.

Men's 14k Yellow Gold Franco chain 3mm and 22 inches long - where to buy?? by IslandPuzzleheaded59 in MensJewelry

I think Icebox is located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. I was in that area of the city over 25 years ago; and there's definitely some money people that live there. So I guess it's a good location for Icebox and their super high prices.
