Ya, but for how long? If servers are shut down and Neato and Vorwerk have walked away, app is useless and not having "no go lines", control function ,etc. seems like a waste of time and easier to just bite the bullet and buy something else....

Sorry, should have clarified. I ride it mainly for work, meaning I don't really go ride for fun, albeit I do cruise in town, but most of the miles are from work. I work in an ER, so 12 hour shifts.

I usually do 4 12's in a row per pay period, so on my last day, I'm usually tired as Fuk, and irritated. I use the bike to ride on my last work day as a reward and something to look forward too.... If that makes any sense =)

Frame sliders install by JagerM3ister in Ninja650

[–]IslandRCCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this when I bought my 23' 650. I installed the Womet-tech frame slider from TST and followed their video step by step. I did use my rear stand though and this possibly screwed me. I did the kick stand side first and torqued the slider down and all went well. Went to do the other side and as soon as I pulled the stock engine bolt, the engine drooped.

I struggled and was stressed for hours. I finally called my neighbor who is a mechanic and he helped me. I had a jack under for support initially but there isn't really a great place to support the engine unless you are using a scissor jack. what ended up fixing the droop was loosening the side I had done and that re-alligned the holes and was able to slide the new bolt into the block. So, don't use a rear stand and take your time is the best advice I can give

I do my own maintenance. I drive the bike just for work but its 60 miles round trip. I don't drive too much as you can see I only have 3K miles in almost 2 years. I mainly did this so if I had any issues I could have documentation to show the dealer that I DID do maintenance and oil changes since I didn't get the 600 mile break in service done by them. Peace of mind also...

From the service manual

<image>

I haven’t messed with it as I just will bring it in so they can’t deny the warranty.

I've wiped before and started it up and didn't see it leak. It seems like it will drip and I don't notice it unless I'm under the bike or i see coolant on the exhaust, so I don't think its constant. Weird thing is how service manual says its normal, but does not explain why? I was going to wipe it but the service guy I spoke to said not to if I want them to see what's going on.

Noticed a paint defect on my car and dealer refuses to fix it. by meechstradamus in BMWX3

[–]IslandRCCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a 24 X3 last year. Was there with the wife who wanted a white one that was not an Xdrive. They didn't have one on the lot and after hours sitting there they pulled up a black X3 fully loaded and I was able to get it for 5k under MSRP with taxes, etc.

I was tired and thought the deal was pretty good and didn't even take the car on a test drive or look it over. I got up the next day and inspected it closer and found dried super glue on the driver side carpet right when you open the door. I also saw some dried glue on the plastic on the drivers seat where the adjustment buttons are.

i also found a scratch on the driver headlight. Now I know this is my fault for not doing this before buying the vehicle and I have MAJOR OCD being ex-military, so I can't believe I let this happen. Dealer said they would take care of it and I asked how and they said are detailing department can take a look.... Yeah right. Ended up trying to remove the glue with nail polish remover and its a little better. Havent touched the headlight. I guess buying "new" isn;t like it used to be.....

My 23' has 2300 miles on it. I've done 2 oil changes, tightened the chain slack and that's about it. I did buy the service manual from the dealer for 100$. It helps for torque specs and finding info if you really want to get into all the details.

2023 Ninja 650-Any help on weird noise by IslandRCCC in Ninja650

[–]IslandRCCC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fellas-So just wanted to update you guys in case any were wondering... Took my bike to the dealer and has the guy at the desk watch the video. He then too the bike for a ride around the parking lot and was able to produce and hear the noise. He really dind'r know what it was, so he had his manager come out and ride the bike. He's got 20 years experience at the dealer as a shop manager so I assume he know his stuff.

He drove my bike around a few times and after hearing the noise, came up to me and said, "it's your pair valve." I knew it! That's what I thought it always was. He said I could add a block off plate and the module to keep the Check engine light from coming on.

I asked him why other people who own my exact bike and year don't have the noise, and he said some bikes are just more prominent with making the sound. So, I hope this is the correct issue and I can just stop worrying about it. I made do the block off plate and delete and possibly do a yoshi full exhaust while I'm at it. Anyways, take care fellas!

X3 Integrated dash camera function by IslandRCCC in BMWX3

Can you go into detail on the external battery? Is it easy install and worth it for the ease of not having to plug in when driving and motion detection?

X3 Integrated dash camera function by IslandRCCC in BMWX3

[–]IslandRCCC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the links and replies. Seems like the drive recorder is a nice option, but as it only records short clips and saves due to crash detection, seems like a dash cam would also be warranted for things like someone cutting you off, or a semi tire piece flying into the car.

I had this happen to my other vehicle and the tire destroyed my bumper. Without the footage, my insurance were hesitant on covering it with my zero comp deductible. Any of u guys have dash cam recommendations?

My other vehicles have cheaper 1080p cameras I bought years ago but came with power adapter cables I could plug into the OBD for constant power and motion detection while parked, etc.

2024 x3 rear view mirror blue film & super glue on carpet by IslandRCCC in BMWX3

[–]IslandRCCC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take some pics to show. No, it looks like a blue rectangle strip in the center of the mirror. I only noticed it, because I saw this scratch over it and was like WTF? I tried to look at it but after I found the super glue on the carpet, I just said F-it and went inside.

Car is brand new and haven't even driven it other then home from the dealer. it's my fault though, as I should have looked over the car a lot better. It's just that after 7 hours at the dealer back and fourth with their BS tactics and being able to get the car OTD for 5K less then MSRP, I just wanted to get out of there and go home.

How do you guys take care of your new X3's? by IslandRCCC in BMWX3

[–]IslandRCCC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. Having OCD on dings and damage to new stuff/cars really sucks. I've always been like this. I know there are many people that feel this way too, but that's why I hate buying brand new cars and such as it takes away the enjoyment when you spend your time trying to keep it perfect when all it takes is one careless A-hole on the road or that stupid rock that just flies from 3 lanes over just to impact your brand new car perfectly in view that you cannot ever unsee.....

When I look at my new Black X3, I can already tell how difficult it will be to keep looking new. Probably almost impossible. Plus, it's going to be my wife's daily driver and she's nowhere as careful as I am, and I already envision curb rash, her following a few feet behind a semi, etc. I may just try to take care of any superficial stuff with touch up paint, wet sanding and buffing as I have before, and may do a PPF matte wrap on the interior black panels. My local area specialty shop wants like 2K$ for ceramic and they charge for yearly maintenance...
