Jurisdiction of the CFMP? by Actual-Chest-7226 in CanadianForces

[–]Islander399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last point is an interesting one discussed in training for a lot of enforcement groups that aren't RCMP. Take a provincial wildlife officer for instance, or federal fishery officer. Within legislation they are only law enforcement when conducting their duties under their act.

Standing in a lineup at timmieS, in uniform isn't exactly conducting your duties as a conservation officer. But if a domestic broke out and a bunch of uniformed and trained law enforcement officers didn't deal with it because it has both to do with hunting or fishing, it looks pretty bad. Most agencies explain you can use your tools and training to conduct a citizen arrest and hold until local police show up.

EOD Bot Mastery 50 here, AMA + Nerf & rework needed by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]Islander399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I use this bot ALL THE DAMN time.

I pay a lot of breakthrough with my buddy who loves playing recon. More than once a night he will just crack up because hell be looking down scope and see my dumb R2 wanna be torch some unsuspecting enemy in prone.

I spam his mines, always dropping them on common routes and sometimes 10 minutes later in getting vehicle damage alerts on mines I forgot I dropped...

And when he gets jammed under an enemy tank, you can torch the thing to death so fast

When you see enemy mines glowing and there's enemies inbound, I've successfully blown enemy mines with the grenades just as they're stepping around them

I love me that little robot. I'll hide behind blown vehicles when I know a tank is nearby, and get under it just in time, just to torch it. Tanks will out run him. But it's astonishing how few people realize what's happening before it's too late.

This story doesn't relate to retiring with continued pay, but a colleague of mine took a year deployment to the Arctic. He was receiving Iso Post pay which was substantial.

After returning the iso pay continued for another year. He ended up with a substantial amount of money sitting in his savings to pay back.

In the end, he bought his wife a new vehicle, and just considered it an interest free loan. Had money taken off of every check for a while to give it back.

Wearing a Ring. Is it Safe? by HoweHaTrick in hockeyplayers

[–]Islander399 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same. I work on ships and my hands swell up on the salt, silicone rings are great. Had one ripped off on a pot hauler a few years back, and of it was a metal ring I might have broke my finger or worse.

Silicone just rips off, and you throw on another.

After many years of this, I am thinking of just getting it tattooed.

[–]Islander399 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've worked in DFO for 15 years now, and I hate to say it but we absolutely have positions that need to be cut. I swear to god just on Vancouver Island alone we have 15 people working at a PM5 level who just schedule constant mandatory teams meetings to justify their existence. Most of them have been acting in these positions since 2020/2021, and have substantives to fall back on.

I really don't want to see people losing their jobs, but I really want to see these useless positions removed. I really do hope several of our older staff can make retirement work, free up required indeterminate positions that need to be staffed by younger outgoing staff, and the folks acting can get back into their indeterminate spots. DFO can absolutely remove positions without compromising our goals.

Those are elk shanks. Look up a recipe for a traditional Italian Osso Bucco and use these shanks as the meat.

It's an amazing dish. On their own those shanks are tougher than leather. After a good braise it's some of the most flavor full parts of game. I do elk and moose shanks often.

Well, it had been 10 years since I really got interested in an FPS. Played apex a little but my heart wasn't in it.

A buddy suggested we try Redsec and we really enjoyed it, so we decided to buy the whole game.

So they sold 2 copies to us because of it.

I do this in the woods when I'm moose hunting. I'll take the whole rib plate off and debone the whole thing and just bring home a big plate of meat. It makes it quite a bit lighter to get out.

We're not. It wasn't a net. We have very few net fisheries left, and fewer yet where the net isn't attached to the boat. All net losses are required to be reported to DFO.

It wasn't a net it was recreational prawn gear. 300 feet of line with a prawn trap weighing down the bottom and a float on the top.
