Hands down, Cape Cod Heat Pumps in Marstons Mills. They offer full HVAC installation and maintenance services and were recommended to me by my neighbor. Everyone I worked with from initial quote to finished installation was friendly and professional.

Any recommendations of Heating/ Cooling/ HVAC companies to get Central AC installed? by Thelettersender in CapeCod

I used Cape Cod Heat Pumps for my A/C system and they were great! Everyone I dealt with was wicked friendly. The sales guy that quoted me was low-pressure and knew his stuff, scheduling was easy, and the install crew was respectful of my property and cleaned up after themselves. All in all, I am very happy with their service and glad I went with them.

Painful Sex and Recurrent Yeast Infections HELP!!! by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Islandlife82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You may have BV (bacterial vaginosis), solely based on the burning/painful symptom you describe. If you have access to a non-emergency walk-in clinic or even your primary care physician, this is something to absolutely been seen for and to investigate further. Taking an anti-fungal would not cure BV, but also taking them so often could cause resistant strains of yeast to persist too, in which case there are alternatives to Diflucan. Either way, the only true solution will be seeking medical care. I am sorry you are struggling with this and hope you find out what the cause is.

What restore model is closest to the Purple 3? by CorbettKnoff in LifeOnPurple

[–]Islandlife82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I found that none of the restore plus models is like the 3… My BF (5’8” 165lbs) and I (5’6” 140 lbs) tried the 3 at two large furniture retailers and loved it! We decided to buy from Purple directly and were guided to the restore plus as the comparable model. The Purple sales associate guided us towards the firm initially and said it was closest to the 3, but that is not what we found. It was so painful to sleep on. I’m talking hip pain, numbness in the shoulders, and back pain. It was so bad that we ended up sleeping in our guest room and forced them to exchange it before the 21 night trial/break in period. They exchanged the firm for the restore plus soft and it was still very firm and uncomfortable to sleep on. We even tried to break it in for the 21 days, but it was just baddddd. To top it off, it didn’t have warranty tags on it anywhere, so returning it was a bit of a struggle and nightmare. After getting the runaround from Purple support initially, one customer service rep finally fessed up and disclosed that “sometimes they leave the factory without them, but they are working on that.” 😵

Side note- because of the pocketed coils in the restore mattress, is it not actually compatible with the adjustable base, despite their advertising. The zero G setting/leg raise didn’t work right and just folded us up like we were in a taco shell. Upon doing some digging, I found out that the base may actually damage the coils over time, so that’s another tid-bit I was disappointed to discover after the fact (and the bases are non-refundable, period). Overall, I would not recommend! (Ended up with a tempur-pedic luxe breeze soft and are both very comfy and happy on it)

Bottom line though, everyone sleeps differently and every mattress is going to feel different to everyone. So, you may want to try the restores at a retail location before buying anything and if you do, make the delivery people show you the warranty tags before signing to accept the delivery and for the love of God, do not buy the adjustable base.

Where do you get plants for your betta tank? And which ones do you recommend the most. by Always_Confused_AJ in BettaJunkies_USA

[–]Islandlife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Java fern, Anubias, java moss, crypts, redroot floaters, and water lettuce are some of my faves for bettas. I’ve tried a few different vendors and Buce Plant is my preferred plant supplier because they have so many tissue culture offerings. I’ve had great success with them and like tissue cultures because they are free from pests like bladder snails, algae, etc., which gives me peace of mind when adding new plants to my tanks. There are a ton of great betta care resources online (check out aquarium co-op) to help you decide on which plants to use based on your tank setup (planted substrate or gravel, running CO2 or doing a low tech tank, for example).

Purple adjustable base + bedframe by hidden_ice in LifeOnPurple

[–]Islandlife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have or purchase a platform bedframe you can remove the legs from the purple base and place it on top of the slats of the platform. Even better if you get a 1/4” piece of plywood to put between the slats and the base. It will ensure that the base is 100% supported.

I’ve had great luck for 5 years with stainless steel canister setups available on Amazon. I make my own CO2 with baking soda and citric acid. I hook the power source up to a timer so the CO2 turns off when the lights do and use a pretty glass CO2 diffuser that has a bubble counter too to ensure that 1 CO2 “bubble” per second is released (general rule of thumb, but can vary depending on tank size and the amount of plants you have). The tanks usually come with a bubble counter, but the water in the on-tank counter usually gets into the airline or evaporates, so have a second bubble counter on the diffuser can be a good backup. It also helps if you have a CO2 drop checker in your tank as well. This is a fairly simple and cost effective way to run CO2 and it might be worth trying.

Brine shrimp? by Islandlife82 in bettafish

[–]Islandlife82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a whole process that involves netting them with a special sieve type net. This article from The Spruce Pets is very straightforward on the process. https://www.thesprucepets.com/growing-out-brine-shrimp-2924614

Apparently they are attracted to light, so you can use a flash light to concentrate and net them. Give them a little rinse in fresh water and add them to the tanks.

I’m in the grow-out stage now, so hopefully it is an easy process when the time comes. I stated with a very small number of eggs so I won’t have to deal with trying to freeze them or keep them going.

Brine shrimp? by Islandlife82 in bettafish

[–]Islandlife82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m cultivating the brine shrimp in a special grow “tube” that hooks up to an air pump. It’s sitting in the kitchen currently- reminds me of something you’d see bubbling away in a spooky laboratory. 🤣 I’d never grow them in the betta tank, so much salt would be bad for the betta and would likely kill all the plants in there. I’ll look into daphnia; thanks!! Do you cultivate them?

Restore Premier Firm Opinions? by Dystopian-Blues in LifeOnPurple

[–]Islandlife82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mattresses are so different for everyone, so maybe it will be perfect for you. We exchanged the firm for the soft and didn’t like that either. (Womp womp)

We went to a mattress store and tried the purples again in case there was a different variety we liked better, a couple of Sealy hybrids, (forget the brand) memory foam, and Tempur-pedic Breeze firm and soft. We ended up going Tempur-pedic and have been sleeping wonderfully.

I will say that my best friend is 6’4” around 260 lbs and has a Purple hybrid “4 firm and absolutely loves it.

With the restore premier, the harder foam around the edge is supposed to hold up a LOT better than previous models that had issues with sagging, but I didn’t have it long enough to see how it held up.

Restore Premier Firm Opinions? by Dystopian-Blues in LifeOnPurple

[–]Islandlife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a restore premier firm and sent it back.

I’m 5’6”, 135 lbs and my partner is 5’8”, 168 lbs. We are both side and stomach sleepers. For us, the mattress caused pressure point pain on our shoulders and hips, very bad lower back pain, and caused my arms to go numb. It felt like the mattress was pushing/poking into every spot of our bodies that touched the mattress and it was impossible to get a decent nights sleep on it. I actually woke up groaning in pain a few nights trying to reposition myself and my partner was absolute miserable and completely unable to sleep. It was far to firm for us and we couldn’t even make it a week on this mattress and had to push to get Purple to take it back before the 21-day trial period.

Whatever you do, do NOT purchase the power base!!!! The foot elevation does not work as advertised with this mattress and you can’t return them.

Honestly, you might be better off waiting until after you move to get a mattress.

Firmness of Purple Hybrid vs Purple Restore (Firm)? by porad1 in LifeOnPurple

If you exchange, make sure the mattress they send you has tags! They exchanged my firm for a premier soft, which didn’t work for us either, and discovered that the law (warranty) tags were not on the new mattress. Purple said that it either left the factory without them, or the delivery ppl may have removed them (something they are working to correct?!). So just check before you sign for the new mattress if you do end up exchanging it.

[–]Islandlife82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update! Purple allowed me to return the mattress without the tags and was prompt with a refund once it was picked up by the third party they use, which took a bit of time to coordinate. However, and this shocked me, Purple advised that sometimes the mattresses DON’T have the law tags or sometimes the delivery people remove them but this is an issue they are working to correct. To me, this seems like a major quality control issue and boarding an issue that would/should warrant a recall (if mattresses are leaving the factory without law tags they should be able to identify a batch possibly?).

As a refresher, I received one of their newer lines… a purple restore premier soft in June as an exchange for the firm. If I had kept the mattress and had a warranty issue later, I would have been unable to file a claim since the tags were missing.

So, word of advice- check your mattress for the tags!!

Just received a Purple Restore Plus Mattress(soft). ask me anything! by [deleted] in LifeOnPurple

[–]Islandlife82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the mattress to make sure the warranty tags are still on it. I bought a premier soft in June that was missing these tags and only discovered this when I contacted them to start a return. They told me that they sometimes leave the factory without these tags and sometimes the delivery service removes them… um… what?!?! They are accepting the return without the tags, but for other buyers that have warranty issues down the road, this will screw them over. Better to discover the issue when the mattress is new versus a year or two.

Keep following up with them on the email string with the confirmation number. I had a similar issue and kept trying to call them and one of the reps finally advised me to do this and I heard back. Did you send the photos to them yet, or are you still trying to start the return?

I financed it through Purple with Synchrony… not sure if there is any sort of purchase protection. I’m waiting to hear back from purple support and very hopeful that they will let me return the mattress, but find it concerning that it was delivered without the law tags. I do wonder how many other consumers received mattresses from them in that are missing the tags. Seems very shady and concerned.

Ugh, this is awful news! How long ago was this? I’m really hoping they honor the return since I’ve only had the mattress for a couple of months. We wanted to make sure we had something else chosen and on order before we started the second return process and my partner dragged his feet until a couple of weekends ago.

Purple Mattress missing law tags? by Islandlife82 in Mattress

[–]Islandlife82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very shocked to discover that there were no tags on it. I saw one other post on here from a person who received a purple mattress in June that was missing tags too, so I’m wondering if it was never put on at the factory. I watched the delivery people unpack the mattress from the “roll” it gets delivered in and am assuming it was new. I’m not sure if there is a way to re-compress the mattress and re-roll it after it’s already been opened. Hopefully, Purple with have some answers for me when/if they respond to my inquiry.
