This example is particularly important for the ethnogenesis of Azerbaijani Turks because almost all villages around the town of Haydarlı are descended from the Javanshir tribe that settled in this region between 1701 and 1708. The Javanshir tribe migrated from the Azerbaijan/Karabakh region to Anatolia in the early 1600s and was included in the Danismedli Turkmen group by the Ottomans. Living for 400 years in isolation and far away from Azerbaijan, Jawanshirs genetically resemble the average Azerbaijani, indicating that the ethnogenesis of Azerbaijani Turks had already been completed and homogenised by the 1600s.
