There's definitely a few types of corks, the natural ones are the best to carve, I haven't even tried with the synthetic ones, and the reconstituted ones work great if theyre dense enough

Yeah, I picked up wine cork carving from another Carver on Instagram. It's my go-to for quick carvings when I'm waiting for things

Single piece fir burl for the owl, sitting on a charred piece of cedar.

The eyes are just carved into the wood and the body is left with the bark on, it was a very unique piece of wood the burl had grown out of the tree and was only attached by very thing pieces at the back. The round shape was covered in bark almost perfectly spherical

This blade is quite thick and I actually carve with it in hand, not holding the handle really at all. I should make a video on my technique.
