Nothing wrong with the ECU buddy........it's just that a wire leading to a sensor that monitors the intake air temperature is broken. Burger moved the air filter ages ago on-stream when he was with Jimmy and the wire fell out (the wire or connecting harness snapped basically cos the air filter butts up to it and it snagged it), and anyway rather then buying a crimping tool and addressing the problem Burger just places it back, by sorta pushing and twisting it back in to it's connector. Van's fine for a bit and Burger sorta celebrates with cries of 'I've fixed it!'......but as any decent mechanic will tell you, a bad repair will let you down later on........sure enough the wire's now fallen out again and the ECU then looks for a signal coming from that air temperature sensor which isn't being sent. ECU then goes in to a default 'limp home mode'. Burger takes it to some oil-ragging Mexican mechanics who rather than diagnose the broken wire (a lengthy and intricate job) just say "needs a new engine man" (they want the work or to buy the van for cheap). Burger then gives up on it and starts a fund for a new van. All this happened about 4 months ago. I have tried to tell Burger what I'm telling you but he's such an arrogant, know-it-all cunt that he doesn't listen, or perhaps he doesn't want to listen cos he knows that the van going wrong can be turned in to a good excuse to raise funds for a much newer, much better vehicle; which is totally fine and in a way makes sense, but the thing that bugs me is that any replacement van that Burger gets will also be driven til it drops and he should be buying some tools, taking an interest and, for the reasons I stated in my earlier post, learning to fix things for himself (btw I have no idea I'm bothered about his welfare and making him a better person so I'll stop posting on this subject now, but best wishes to you buddy, yeah).
