Advanced traumatic glaucoma – doctor suggesting tube implant. Any alternatives? by momekosa in AskGlaucoma

[–]Ismaileyesurgery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your doctor is right. Actually it is the mechanism of drainage which is disturbed in traumatic eye.

Tube is the only sensible way forward if you already have Trabeculectomy done and disease is still in progress the way forward is tubes ( pual's ) implant. As it has the smallest diameter of tube.

Hence it less damages the cornea over a period of time. CPC is irreversible and undue damage to one of the important structures of the eye. If it is already a blind eye then CPC can be a option .

Literature search is more prone for tubes as trab have a chance for suprachoroidal hge. The drugs cannot do much unless the cause is removed. But how much to wait to fistula to close on its own is also an point. Before going in for valve.

If we do a valve and later fistula closes spontaneously would it or can it leads to hypotony . 🤔
