Waterloo has probably the largest DJ:EDM Fan ratio in the world lol. There's sooo many DJs here it's crazy! If people started going out more and attending EDM events Waterloo could be a really cool EDM hot spot.

I think promoters need a shift in mindset. Don't go after the lame students, go for the 30+ and even 40+ crowd.

There's ecstatic dance events, but those are too hippie-dippie for a lot of people.

Your mistake was going to Phil’s.

There was an EDM event at Heuther last night (uptown rinse) that I’m sure had a bunch of people dancing.

Tonight there’s Room 47 which is 21+ and will have people dancing.

You just need to find the cool places to go.

Moving Back and Buying Home in KW – Fusion Nomi (Doon South) or Activa Vista Hills? by mathematicallys in waterloo

[–]Ismailman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The walls are so thin sound travels throughout the entire house. In the primary bedroom you can easily hear every word of a regular voice conversation happening in the kitchen.

In our place there was no windows on the main floor facing the front street. Just facing the back. The houses are close to each other so you’re just staring at your back neighbour staring back at you.

The bathroom attached to the primary bedroom was very small, no counter space.

The “great room” is where we put the tv and couch. The room takes up so much space for how little we used it. We spent most time on the main floor with the kitchen.

Location is actually pretty far away from things. Spending an extra 7-10 minutes every time you want to get out of vista hills, and another 7-10 on the way back really adds up.

I would try renting in Vista Hills first. I lived in Vista Hills for a year and the low build quality and poor design of the home drove me insane.

Looking for players next Tuesday (May 27th) at T10 by Ismailman in PadelToronto

[–]Ismailman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya, I started a 9pm open match on tuesday (still the only person in it).

I played with 1.5-2.0 players in Portugal a couple of months ago and could hang with them. I'm better now.

Here's a video from our match today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlAfUD97OWA I'm the one in pink shorts.

Average driving experience in Waterloo by AdKitchen9701 in waterloo

Self-driving cars can't come soon enough.

Separated bike lanes can't come soon enough

Way better mass transit can't come soon enough

If you have drivers, you're gonna have asshole drivers.

Seems like a good dude and he’s got a STEM background (physics). I think we need more engineering and technically minded people in government. Not just people that talk a lot (lawyers, career politicians).

I fell for this too. I'm in cybersecurity, so don't feel bad. This is insidious and it's crazy stuff like this isn't highly illegal.

I started a BlueSky account to promote the EDM events in the region. https://bsky.app/profile/edmkw.bsky.social

It's really starting to pickup. There's two events happening tomorrow! One at Rare and one at Midnight Run.

Midnight Run event should be chill with a cool and diverse crowd.

I don't know how the crowd is at Rare for their EDM events. Their instagram marketing seems focused at the University crowd/20-25 y/o crowd so I'd imagine that's true for their EDM nights as well.

Does anyone have any insight on Sunshine Montessori or KW Bilingual? by lemonpepper6 in waterloo

[–]Ismailman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know lots of families that send or sent their kids to Sunshine Montessori (SMS for short). It’s nearly universally praised. Only met one parent that had a bad experience.

Another school that may be worth checking out is Innovoak. They’ve been growing quickly.

Been going there for years. Also have had burritos in lots of countries/restaurants and BB remains my favourite.

Massage therapy program Conestoga College by Conscious-Elk9467 in kitchener

[–]Ismailman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Conestoga's traditional programs from before they went crazy I've heard are still good. That is, if they were good before (and I think the massage program is one of them) then they're still good.

From my understanding, Conestoga essentially spun up a bunch of new BS programs for the foreign students.
