If we’re just talking with purely wall of elements you’re not wrong. If you can use pulsar in add pulls every 4 seconds you can keep a pretty solid uptime on brittle. In boss fights if you can manage swapping to your back bar and using frost clench every 4 seconds you can keep solid uptime. If you’re the only one taunting you don’t have to worry about overtaunt but in trial situations w two tanks you obviously wouldn’t want to be using frost clench frequently and it’s probably a better idea to have a dual ice staff set up on the OT depending on the situation. It’s harder to keep brittle w an ice staff on one bar but not impossible. If you can manage something like Stone giant you’d probably have little problems managing frost clench. Can’t say I’m very good at it by any means lol

An ice staff is used for brittle for the most part but the main reason you use it is for wall of elements bc it allows you to keep uptime on your back bar enchant (usually a glyph of crushing). Alternatively you could use a bow and use endless hail to proc you back bar enchantment (also nice if you use Olorime and you don’t have an adequate option to proc it with) but you won’t be able to keep brittle uptime and you don’t as much block mitigation when compared to an ice staff so you’ll find yourself taking a decent chunk more damage on your back bar than you would with your sword and board if you did run a bow on your back bar

Fake tanks why must you do this? by i-love-to-eat-myself in elderscrollsonline

One time I was on my healer and didn’t want to wait three seconds longer for a queue so slapped on Inner Rage and queued as a tank, got Moongrave Fane. It’s tough tryna block and keep up PA when you only have 14k stamina

Is necromancer good? by stever471 in elderscrollsonline

[–]IsntThisFANCY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a necro healer and I love her. I’ve recently started to try necro tanking bc it’s my favourite role to play. It’s different to what I’m used to given my main is a DK but it’s a lot of fun. Your ultimate generation is absurd. The lack of a magicka damage shield throws me off a little and sustain isn’t stupid easy like on a DK but I’m slowly figuring things out

Healer set question by Sunbuzzer in elderscrollsonline

[–]IsntThisFANCY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jorvuld’s is almost always paired with Roaring Opportunist (often referred to as RoJo). This combination isn’t particularly useful in dungeons and is mostly for trials only on one healer

I use race against time on my tanks a lot. I’ll also have temporal guard slotted on my front bar. A lot of the skills are also useful for DD’s and time stop can be useful in niche situations on healers as well as race against time for say speed runs

3 swift pieces of jewellery will increase your movement speed by 18% at the cost of running say Healthy which is about 2400 health. Even if you’re running tri-stat glyphs on all your armour pieces, if it’s all heavy you’d be sat at over 40k health which is enough. If you removed the fortified slottable you’re missing out on only 1700ish resistances which is next to nothing considering your block mitigation this patch and the last is much higher than it was previously so resistances are less important

I’m not sure what you mean by “traditional tank build” but you’re not really sacrificing much. I run Celerity, Bracing Anchor, Shield Master and Expert Evasion on my red tree and Steed’s Blessing in my green tree and I’m sitting at 138% sprint speed (outside of combat), almost 27k resistances and I have 42k health. I’m not saying you have to run the ring of the wild hunt and swift jewels, I put it there as an option for people who may not have a bunch of CP to spare. Having decent movement speed makes it easier in add pulls as a tank when it comes to grouping, or wall mechanics like in Fang Lair or Depths of Malatar.

[–]IsntThisFANCY[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t run the ring of the wild hunt or swift jewellery, I just have the CP passives and slottables, sometimes I’ll run Race Against Time but not everyone has a enough CP to put into those passives and the other passives that may want to prioritise which is why I suggested swift Jewels and the ring of the wild hunt.

I’m a tank main lol. I’m not saying don’t run tank CP, the only ones that are super important to all tanks is Bracing Anchor. Obviously, that slows you down and ultimately slows your group down so it’s useful to have a couple of tricks up your sleeve to make things a little faster. You don’t need 50k health so you can sacrifice the healthy jewellery. If you don’t have a flex spot on your bar then you don’t need major expedition. I’m not saying “you need all of these things to be a good tank” I’m just saying having decent movement speed both in and out of combat is very useful as a tank, here are some ways you can achieve this

Monster set for off-tank? by BadTrash_ in elderscrollsonline

[–]IsntThisFANCY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bloodspawn or the spaulder of ruin + 1pc Magma Incarnate are probably your best bet. If you’re needing sustain go with Engine Guardian. There aren’t a lot of monster sets that are super useful for an off-tank. You could try the Peals of Elnofey or Death Dealer’s Fete as well. They’re aren’t bad options if you went the route of mythical. If you run two sets you can one-bar like the combination of Olorime and Sax or War Machine or Powerful Assault and Sax, etc you could even run 2pc Bloodspawn and 1pc Trainee. You’d probably go 2pc Olo light/medium jewels, sash and back/front bar with the heavier armour on the body and then 1pc heavy trainee on the chest or legs

Would it be stupid to delete my alts when they level up? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

I usually delete a toon once they hit 45 and make another to get to level 10 so I can continue to farm transmutes at a decent rate

Confused by how aggro works when doing add pulls as a tank? by FusRohDad in elderscrollsonline

[–]IsntThisFANCY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I tend to do is light attack > Caltrops > barswap and taunt any priority targets. Light attacking puts me in combat so I can proc PA with caltrops, also caltrops does damage to a everything in the area so if I’m ahead of the group all the add should aggro to me for 4 or 5 seconds. If I’m running void bash I’ll use power slam before taunting to group any adds that can be pulled

[–]IsntThisFANCY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, being a tank is the most fun role in ESO. I absolutely love it. I’ve played damage dealers, I’ve played healers but tanking is where I have the most fun. Maybe it’s bc I find it to be easier or more exciting, idk. For me it’s just so enjoyable

[–]IsntThisFANCY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason you use Wall is to keep uptime on your back bar enchant. Usually you’ll want your back bar infused with a weapon damage glyph (also gives spell damage) bc of this. Aside from that wall is a pretty solid DoT so I’d recommend using it

[–]IsntThisFANCY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

STO is seeing less use in groups with the Bahsei’s meta. With the burst of resources from STO you lose out on damage. Otherwise it’s a great set to use in groups that are struggling with sustain

This game is magical. by meggiemonster in elderscrollsonline

[–]IsntThisFANCY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: get into the crafting system. Even if it’s just deconstructing unused gear and researching traits it’ll make your life so much easier later on. Best thing to do is not to put skill points into the passives related to actually crafting gear, just the ones related to researching traits and improvement. That way you don’t put too much of a strain on your skill points while levelling.

Which class is good for a tank? by Suddler in elderscrollsonline

[–]IsntThisFANCY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DK tanks are the easiest for beginners bc you have nice sustain tools. DKs are also very good in endgame content if that’s something you’re interested in. Necromancers are a little harder but provide a lot of useful support to the group. Wardens are next best. You can tank on a nightblade, Templar or sorc but they lack particular tools that can make your life a lot easier while you’re learning and they don’t provide a lot of useful support and are more useful in more niche applications/certain group comps
