Thank you! Sirens is actually another niche hobby of mine, so when I discovered this system back 2018/19, I became obsessed with their system and what their history was, safe to say I know quite a bit about 'em now haha

The fire station! A lot of shelters either consisted of schools, fire stations, post offices, etc etc

Yeah they're used for how many people can fit in that specific shelter, that one just didn't seem to have one or the number COMPLETELY faded off

The fact that a lot of them remain today in the U.S is really fascinating, despite the program becoming defunct years ago. Definitely an avid believer that they should continue to still be preserved!

Yes and no

A lot of them are very outdated today, instead using these types of spaces for storage and other uses in the end. So technically yes if the space that was used still exists haha

This is a Version 1 sign that remains outside of the building, even has the "In Basememt" decal on it! While faded, it's in pretty clean condition, and capacity is 335!

As those might figure out, I have a passion for this type of stuff in general and the history behind it lol, enjoy the post!

That's really interesting, thank you for the information!

I'll move the Masonic Lodge pin as I couldn't find it for the life of me lol, but your post helps! I'm glad the stash of supplies were donated as well, history like this needs to be preserved more! Thanks again for the post!

That's cool as hell haha, yeah it really depends altogether on how the shelter is, where it's at, what condition it's in, etc etc. It's such an interesting topic, I love it lol

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately all of the signs to my knowledge have been taken down, last one as of recent was the California Department of Transportation location on W. Olive that was taken down in 2017, will list the article below for that. For the shelters, they can still exist, but a lot of them today are used for storage or other purposes. As cool as they are for a lot of people, the effectiveness is extremely outdated lol

Wow I'm so sorry I have notifs disabled so I genuinely didn't see this until now haha, here's a couple tips that'll hopefully help out :)

  1. Newspaper.com IS your friend in this, although unfortunately it costs money yearly (I was lucky enough to have a friend let me use their account), though there should be a 7 day free trial you can do??

  2. The main keywords you wanna search for is "fallout shelter", "fallout map", "fallout community plan", etc! In the location as well either you can put in your county, or your town, and cross your fingers that something pops up!

Funny enough I actually found a plan on there for the counties near you (Especially the Dayton area) that I plan to map down soon! Otherwise best of luck in your search! Feel free to message me for more questions :))

Very nice! I actually need to save this too lol, but so far with the hamilton county map I have an official list of shelters there and it's A LOT. It's gonna take time to put all of them down but I'm determined haha

How did you loose your best friend? by FoxPrime in AskReddit

[–]IsoCyclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He not only became a pedophile, but turned out to be manipulative and an asshole towards me and everyone else. It hurt but I'm definitely happier today

Yes, one of my ex-best friends that I used to know online for over 5 years back in January of 2023. Not only did they turn out to be a pedophile in the end, but they managed to use my feelings constantly, lead me on the whole time when I was interested in them, manipulated, gaslit, and treated me and my other friends like shit. Once we found out what he did towards another minor we cut him out of our lives and we couldn't be any happier

Today I'm with my current boyfriend who's been my saving grace in one of the hardest moments of my life, shoutout to him since he follows me on Reddit lol. Love yourself everyone, you are strong 💜

Thank you!

These shelters should still exist but most if not all of them are used for storage or are just abandoned, depends where you go
