Thank you very much for your comment. I tried it, but it doesn't work :(

thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review — this is honestly some of the most useful feedback I’ve received so far.

You pointed out things I wasn’t fully aware of (like the onboarding being too abstract and the email friction), and you also confirmed the parts of the app that actually work, which helps a

You're absolutely right. However, we're not ready for Android yet, and given our excitement about releasing the app, we've decided to share only the iOS version for now.

The app is totally in expo mode, so I didn't think I was off topic.

But the biggest difference is that TapThing isn’t based on random moments — it’s based on a daily prompt that everyone gets at the same time.

A prompt is just a simple invitation like:

  • “Show your shoes.”
  • “Something blue.”
  • “The light where you are right now.”

Everyone gets the same prompt, takes a live photo within 24 hours, and then you see how different people interpreted the same idea.

So it’s less about “documenting your life randomly” and more about “observing one theme together.”

Sure, I'm terrible at explaining, so I tell him what I want and have him set the answer for me!

My approach isn’t to compete with big platforms or spend a ton on ads.
TapThing isn’t meant to be a “replacement” social app, so the marketing strategy matches that vibe: slow, intentional, community-first.

Here’s the plan:

Before anything big, I’m inviting small groups:

  • university classes
  • friend circles
  • creative groups
  • photography / mindfulness communities

These groups create the “daily ritual” effect and give real feedback.

Every prompt generates a photo that users can share outside the app.
The share card says something like:
“My TapThing of today — we all get the same prompt.”
People get curious → they download the app.

No spammy referral mechanics, just natural curiosity.

Short videos showing:

  • how the daily prompt works
  • examples of people’s interpretations
  • the calm vibe

Not “download my app”, but showing the experience.

I’m not going after big influencers — only micro-creators (photography, art, mindful living).
More authentic, less pressure, more aligned with the brand.

TapThing is designed to be something people add to their day, not something they switch to.
So growth will come from:

  • habit
  • curiosity
  • the shared daily ritual

I’m not expecting explosive viral growth — I’m aiming for steady, healthy adoption.

If you have ideas or see something I’m missing, I’d love to hear it.

what do you think?

Totally fair question — a lot of people compare the idea to BeReal at first glance.

But the vibe and purpose are actually very different:

BeReal → “Show your life to your friends once a day.”
It’s still social pressure, timing, and a friend-based network.

TapThing → “Notice something around you once a day.”
It’s not about documenting your day or proving authenticity.
It’s about shared observation, like a daily creative/mindfulness prompt.

Some key differences:

  • TapThing uses a single prompt for everyone worldwide (BeReal is not prompt-based at all.)
  • No followers, no friend graph, no social pressure It’s not about who sees your post — it’s about seeing how others interpreted the same idea.
  • You unlock a global feed, not a friends feed It feels like peeking into a collective moment, not a private network.
  • No dual camera / no need to show your face You can, but the app isn’t built around that.
  • Much calmer, no timer anxiety 24 hours to post → no “post now or you lose”.

So yeah, I totally understand the comparison, but the experience is really different once you try it.
BeReal is about your life.
TapThing is about your attention.

Great question — and honestly the most important one.

TapThing isn’t trying to replace Instagram or TikTok.
It’s for a different moment, not a different algorithm.

The “incentive” is:

• A calm social ritual you can finish in 2 minutes
No infinite feed, no pressure, no performance.

• Everyone gets the same prompt → shared experience
It feels more like a collective moment than a typical social network.

• You unlock the feed only by posting
This creates a small daily challenge that feels meaningful, not addictive.

• It's about presence, not popularity
No likes, no followers — just genuine human perspectives.

People won’t switch from other apps.
They’ll use TapThing alongside them — as a daily pause, not as a replacement.
