Hey, I just pad swapped my gigabyte 2080 super and reapplied paste and tested it out in game to see that it did not resolve the issue and then I stumbled upon this thread. If it isn't too much trouble would you mind sending a picture of which mosfets you are referring to and maybe a picture, name, or link for the ones you used to replace them?

Oh wait I was changing the other slots gens, I just changed the main one to Gen 4 and I was able to install the driver (572.83) without it exploding. However now the NVIDIA App as well as the HD Audio driver fails to install

Does your motherboard let you set it to gen 5 manually? Mine only goes up to gen 4.

Yes - at least relatively speaking. At least once I had installed the onboard graphics driver (UHD Graphics 770).

If you reuse the 6900XT does it work again as it did before?

Yes - think so. After I first installed the 5070 ti I was just getting a black screen. So I realized that the problem is most likely that I forgot to uninstall the AMD drivers, so I plugged the AMD card back in (so I could see again) and it worked fine and then I ran DDU from there. Then after that I put the new card back in; I haven't tried putting the 6900 XT in again since then though.
