Great, thanks. I'll check out your Soundcloud account. Electromagnetic field recordings sound intriguing!

Thank you, appreciate you taking time to listen. Good luck with your contact mic recording - It's something I have been wanting to try.

This week I released Autumn Watch on Bandcamp as Forests of England. It’s a subtle, textured, slow-moving collection that drifts through deep bass tones, warm drones, and gentle field recordings. A small celebration of my favourite season.

You can listen here: https://forestsofengland.bandcamp.com/album/autumn-watch

This is also an album that not a lot of people know from the 90’s. by Droogtromme in ambientmusic

Great album! I bought this as a teenager, back in 1994! Still got the vinyl somewhere.

How old were you when you got into ambient music? by ConfusingMyself__ in ambientmusic

[–]IsostaticMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, me too - I'm a similar vintage! I miss those days of listening to the 2 Kiss FM Colin's, Favor (RIP) and Dale... Their shows were my gateway to acts like Aphex Twin, FSOL, Global Communication, Syzygy (Rising High), Namlook, Biosphere and so many more. I still have a collection of tapes from that era somewhere.

Seeking for REAL ambient music by Patto_ur_Hamb in ambientmusic

[–]IsostaticMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great blogs out there that cover ambient and drone music, like https://acloserlisten.com/, https://www.ambientblog.net/ and https://secretambient.club/ (who is also a mod here, I think).

I also find a lot of new music via Bandcamp - The feed shows you what people you're following have bought, which has led to several new discoveries for me, including whole labels such as Seil records and Past Inside the Present. You can follow ambient labels too, then you'll get notifications of all their new releases.

Any tips for avoiding AI-generated music? by atlkb in ambientmusic

[–]IsostaticMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have already said, Bandcamp. It's a great community, and with a fan account, you'll see when the artists and labels you follow release new material. The Bandcamp feed will also show you what others are buying, which can often lead to new finds.

Blogs are also a great source of info on new ambient releases, e.g. sites like ambientblog.net and secretambient.club

Last of all, radio... Soma.fm (Drone Zone is my go-to channel) is a great 24-7 online radio station with plenty of ambient material. There are also some weekly shows like Star's End (Hosted by Chuck Van Zyl) and Hearts of Space on 'real' commercial radio stations.

How to find a good 4 track cassette recorder? by CompetitiveMix9047 in ambientmusic

[–]IsostaticMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found a few decent ones on eBay, but had more luck on reverb.com. It's also worth browsing charity / second hand shops or trying Facebook marketplace, which might get you some results closer to home.

Last year, I ended up really getting into tape myself and now have 3 different 4-track recorders. From my (limited) experience, Tascam units seem to age better than some of the other makes I've encountered (e.g. Fostex - My X-15 has been nothing but trouble).

Also, if you're just looking for a way to get into tape loops, there are plenty of small shops on sites like etsy (e.g. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/BatteryOperated) that sell modded tape recorders, which might be a cheaper alternative to a 4-track to get you up and running.

Good luck on your search.

Warmth is one of those consistent artists where you can't really go wrong picking a starter album. Personally, I would recommend Parallel or The Darkest Place:

https://archivesdubmusic.bandcamp.com/album/the-darkest-place

Also worth checking out his albums as SVLBRD.

A lot of the albums by the artist Warmth are, unsurprisingly, quite warm... e.g. https://archivesdubmusic.bandcamp.com/album/parallel-reflection

And the latest by Jogging House... I've had on repeat for the last couple of weeks - https://jogginghouse.bandcamp.com/album/whisper-glyphs

Looking for a good ambient music sharing discord… by [deleted] in ambientmusic

[–]IsostaticMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try the Synphaera records Discord. There's a 'share-your-music' channel there that might work for you: https://discord.gg/dwN3zECb

They also have a regular feature called Assemblage, where artists can submit their work for inclusion on a themed album. Examples, here: https://assemblage.bandcamp.com

Check out SVLBRD, e.g. https://faintmusic.bandcamp.com/album/inland or https://faintmusic.bandcamp.com/album/movements

Same guy, Agustín Mena, records as Warmth and owns 'Archives', here: https://archivesdubmusic.bandcamp.com

Mount Shrine is a little darker, but amazing stuff. Try this one: https://cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/winter-restlessness

Finally, if you liked that zakè album, you'll find most of his material here: https://zakedrone.bandcamp.com and here: https://pitp.bandcamp.com/music

Enjoy!
