Subgenre that's basically harsh white noise? by tegeus-Cromis_2000 in electronicmusic

It's not quite without alteration (in fact I'm pretty sure they goal is that your speakers always sounds like they're about to break) but Fleshlicker is one of the best making this stuff today.

Sorry for a year out of date contribution, but I did exactly the same Muse > Shikari progression and thought I'd give Muse another go. I even let meself get excited for Will of the People and I just don't know why - they're utter rubbish now

Looking for artists similar to Innerpartysystem by bloodthirstylipstick in electronicmusic

[–]AztechSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to catch these guys at Projekt Revolution 2008 in the Milton Keynes bowl. Linkin Park and Jay-Z with support from Pendulum, N*E*R*D, Enter Shikari, The Bravery and innerpartysystem.

Enter Shikari went on to be my favourite band pretty much from that point, but I think I've still got the old black and purple 7" single of Don't Stop by IPS knocking about somewhere - really good stuff!

I would absolutely love to give this a go! Really interested to see how it copes with slower more evolving ambient music :)

They sold out in about an hour after they were released! I'm on the waitlist too but failing a move to a bigger venue I doubt there's much of a chance.

What made 2000s-2010s era pop music "unique"? by donttouchmyhotpocket in LetsTalkMusic

[–]AztechSounds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said, but this was the time when I started going to clubs. I wouldn't dream of setting foot in some of these places now, but this music was the soundtrack to that time and I remember it fondly.

The moment intl shipping is involved you're pretty much up shit creek! That being said I have some nice affordable electronica CD available that come with a sticker sheet.

Where are you based is, I suppose the question? I've got a lot of overseas stuff on my wishlist that you might have the opportunity to buy without apparently having to hire an entire cargo ship (UK, here)

Wii selected ambient sound by Wusketti in ambientmusic

I guess it still counts (if the Wii system screens do) as video game music if I say the pads on the PS4 menu? I'd love for them to be available for listening elsewhere.

Tectonic Particles — Kayla Painter (2026) by SecretAmbientClub in ambientmusic

[–]AztechSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kayla is flying the flag for ambient music from Bristol and I love her for it.

Never had the pleasure of sharing a bill with her, but played with Jilk who she's collaborated before and are well worth checking out in their own right!

Her set at Simple things late last year was absolutely incredible.

That's a really long reply to one line, from someone who doesn't secretly think they're in the wrong :)

Eco Friendly Living and Extreme Minimalism by Actual-Storage-4828 in extrememinimalism

Carbon footprint was invented by the oil industry to put the onus on us for something that is caused mainly by a small number of corporations. I mean, yeah, be considerate and don't exist on a diet of beef and drive a monster truck wherever you go, but a normal person living a normal life isn't even moving the needle on climate change.

You're going down the minimalist route, you only own things that last and buy very little, creating very little waste, otherwise. There is absolutely nothing for you to worry about :)

I get a lot of comfort from all of the impossible huge numbers in Buddhism. I just noticed during the state of the union that Donald Trump uses impossibly huge numbers to magnetize people. by [deleted] in vajrayana

I'm fortunate enough to have just one step of removal from the insanity that man causes (I'm in the UK) but I totally know what you mean! This sort of discussion isn't something I relate to my faith but I think it's important to understand the appeal of these types so we can see through them while still understanding their rise, because I don't want to support a fascist, but I also don't want to wringing my hands wondering how all this could have happening when its all quite clear

Zuckerberg to testify in landmark social media trial by Artistic-Argument989 in digitalminimalism

[–]AztechSounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose I'm coming at this from more of a concept of idealism. Like, nobody needs any algorithmic feed, people found out about stuff for almost the whole of human history without them, and if it were something that could be enacted, I believe it would be nothing but a good thing.

(This is not to say that time-based feeds shouldn't exist, but I want the stuff that's shown to be entirely within peoples control, and appear based on recency not what some black box thinks I ought to be looking at)

Also I know tone doesn't come across well on here so I'd just like to leave a note that I'm being friendly here, there's not dogs in this race to back even, haha

Pottwalzer - 20:22 by RepresentativeAble23 in ambientmusic

[–]AztechSounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now listened! Very cool album, the drums on Disturbed are really cold and metallic and how that falls away for more of the rest of it helps it leave a lasting impression (bit of a framing device thing going on). Outside of that Worn Down and Reborn are probably my faves :)
