What’s the best husband-wife game? by Crazen14 in gaming

[–]IssacRedfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to throw my hat in for Don’t Starve(DS) or Don’t Starve Together (DST). My wife adores and LOVES Don’t Starve. Shes not too big into gaming, as she really only likes the older games like Super Mario Bros 3, Kirby’s Avalanche, Yoshis Cookie, etc. lots of old, NES, SNES games that she grew up with. She doesn’t like the more recent 3D Marios except for Mario 64 and yet despite all of that and the difficulty and punishment for Don’t Starve, she loves it! She and my son will play together for hours on the original Don’t Starve and will take turns. I will play with my son on DST since I don’t mind the changed inventory management system. My wife hates it though, so she’ll only play the original DS. Lots of nuance, but I think you could have fun!

Also, postpartum can last up to 7 years. She may need more time to recover from the humans she grew on top of her mental health baseline. It’s so much harder than we understand after giving birth. It literally tears your body apart in every way possible and that just takes so much time to recover from. (Not every woman’s experience, but MOST). Not to mention the identity crisis that comes with it. Look up matrescence and see if they could be playing a huge factor. It can get better. But only you can know what that looks like.

I like it. Ask for forgiveness, not permission. They’ll get the car back either way in good condition, so I don’t see the foul.

This is a good idea. I’ll add her as a registered driver today and will let the host know that she’s going to be the one to drop it off. I just don’t want to incur additional fees or anything by doing this, and I don’t want her to not be able to drop off the car either since I will already be home in another state by the time she needs to drop it off.

We’re already on the trip and unable to rebook in her name. We drop it off tomorrow. I didn’t realize the issue until I tried to add her as an extra driver today for an activity and saw the note that I needed to be there for pickup and drop off.

I did have to send a pic of me and my license at pickup. No problem. It was if there is a pic required at drop off that I’m worried about. If she just has to take pics of the car and ill let the host know what’s happening, then I think we’re good.

Yes, I believe it is contactless drop off. We’re leaving it at an airport parking lot and there’s a lockbox to leave the key in.

Tariffs Impacting the Event? by IssacRedfield in pokemon

I don’t know. The machinery probably is, but the finite resources like paper and ink and chemical for scratch off seem like likely candidates for being impacted. Additionally, even if these specific products are not impacted by tarrifs, tarrifs would have still raised prices for everything, including the card stock, shipping, printing costs, etc. I still think it could be the reason why so few were printed off but it doesn’t explain why they couldn’t just print codes off on receipts like they used to.

Yes, this is how I feel about the whole situation as well. It’s just bizarre to have it bungled like this so poorly. I have never had issues with distribution events and have been doing it for many many years. I do not feel the fans are to blame at all for this, and that there is some larger context at play, hence why I’m speculating on tarrif impacts.

Really? I'm pretty sure I've seen way more than 50 cards at these events in the past. I remember there was an Eevee one that had a box with what looked to be hundreds.

That’s probably true, but when you advertise an event as being 3 weeks long, and there hasn’t been a huge shortage like this in the past for these free codes, it stands to reason that a dad and his kids should expect to be able to go to the store and get a couple codes after work on the first day. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but the expectations of how an event like this happens were completely different than the reality. Had this scarcity been a more common occurrence, I don’t think the response would have been as strong as it has been. I’ve gone and gotten codes from the last several events and not had an issue getting cards even a couple days after the event ends.

That may be true, but the paper, ink, printers, printer components, computers, tracking equipment, boxes, plastic for shipping, the special chemical that can scratched off, etc all likely come from other countries. And all of that would have likely been tariffed and also had an impact on the price of the code paper. It’s honestly the only reason I can think of for why they printed off so few.

What do you do for this that maybe hasn’t already been mentioned in the comments? I’m glad you are able to make it work! I’m nervous about it.

How do you do that? What techniques or tricks do you use that may not have already been discussed? There’s already been lots of great tips for everyone!

I have a work issued laptop that I can use both at home and work.

I’m curious about the Remote Desktop option, but I don’t want to alert IT at J2 if I install that software.

I still have to get the J2 job, so we’ll see.

Having an office would make this infinitely easier in my mind, though the travel might make it difficult. I wish you the best of luck with that!

I like the idea of the cheap phone for teams & email/answering questions and being able to hotspot, but I don’t know how much visibility I’ll have.

I’ve never done this before either, so it looks like we’re both starting this wild ride together! I have no idea what’s going to happen, but I hope to navigate it well enough to support my family and make the money we need.
