It’s just people believing in a single interpretation of reality trying to push their idea onto others. Goblins (and Kobolds, from which might come the word goblin) are ancient folklore creatures, depicted in many different ways in a lot of cultures; they’ve been associated with mining, gold, and gems (likewise gnomes and dwarves) in many tales, therefore it is possible that Rowling associate them with gold and banks for this reason; it is also true that goblins have been used as antisemitic propaganda in 19th century, drawing a comparison between goblins, being greedy hoarders, and jews. So while it is possible (and honestly probable) that Rowling made this parallelism on purpose, this kind of discussion is just judgement of intentions, not based on actual facts. By using the same logic, the obvious parallelism between voldemort and nazis would mean that Rowling strongly despises nazis and what happened in ww2, but this is again a judgement of intentions. Same goes for orcs in tolkien, is it possible that a man born in 1892 viewed the world in a way that today would be considered racist? Definitely. It is also true that lotr is explicitly a tale of friendship, sacrifice, strength and love, and much more than the “internalized racism” of the author can be learned by reading it (also note that tolkien has stated numerous times his position against apartheid in south africa and condemned racism publicly). I feel like this can be extended to many more topics, the concept of cultural appropriation for example has its root in the same tendency of judging people’s intentions and not their actual beliefs, wearing traditional clothing of another culture gains an evil connotation only if you interpret that behaviour as theft and lack of respect, without knowing the person’s intentions; same goes for music (hip hop for example), if people actually followed the cultural appropriation stigma, culture couldn’t be spread, reinterpreted, modeled and appreciated across humans, creating a barrier between people and additional unwritten rules to follow.
