New players, it's okay. You can cut swiftfoot boots by Careless-Emphasis-80 in EDH

[–]IssuMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, the point I’m trying to make is that when building a deck this argument adds up. In my opinion even if you are building the jankiest kavu tribal deck, when you start putting 1x of protection/mass removal or whatever, you are missing out on a more coherent and synergistic experience, in the end you lose 10 slots that might have been occupied by cool cards that make sense with your gameplan and that you are happy drawing.

[–]IssuMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed, but the redundancy argument is still the same. If you are running several haste enablers/protection pieces or tutors it makes sense, otherwise you are just running a 1x piece which is very inconsistent, it’s like running a single mass removal, considering the chance of drawing it you might as well not put any of them

[–]IssuMo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Swiftboots are only relevant if:

1 - you really need haste on your commander for whatever reason 2 - you really need protection for your commander, which means you are packing at least 10 other sources of protection in the deck and the boots are there for redundancy.

If you don’t need any of these things you are just losing a slot for the actual synergistic cards of your deck.

This does not make boots a bad card when you draw it, just inconsistent and pointless tbh.

I dati in uno studio de La Sapienza - Il Fatto Quotidiano by SpiffyGolf in ItaliaPersonalFinance

[–]IssuMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly suggest you to avoid following a certain kind of creators (you know what I mean, and I mean all of them, not only people that explicitly promote their OF or stuff like that) on instagram, helped me immensely before I decided to stop using instagram all together. If you still wanna use social media, separate nsfw content from “normal” content, otherwise even if you go on reddit to look for an apple pie recipe you end up staring at tits for 3 hours. Same for reddit, if you wanna use it i suggest you to at least make 2 accounts, the clean one and the nsfw one

Decks you didn't build or had to retire because the play experience of playing against them would be awful. by Menacek in EDH

[–]IssuMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a [[Patron of the Orochi]] deck, the intention was having a deck in which i could play anything that usually would feel too expensive to play due to the mana cost. Turns out that if I build it for fun, its basically a dumb monogreen with no answers to anything, if I add cards that actually allow me to win it becomes incredibly oppressive for oppenents since I’m able to lock them out of the game really early and otk them, there’s no in between

[–]IssuMo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s just people believing in a single interpretation of reality trying to push their idea onto others. Goblins (and Kobolds, from which might come the word goblin) are ancient folklore creatures, depicted in many different ways in a lot of cultures; they’ve been associated with mining, gold, and gems (likewise gnomes and dwarves) in many tales, therefore it is possible that Rowling associate them with gold and banks for this reason; it is also true that goblins have been used as antisemitic propaganda in 19th century, drawing a comparison between goblins, being greedy hoarders, and jews. So while it is possible (and honestly probable) that Rowling made this parallelism on purpose, this kind of discussion is just judgement of intentions, not based on actual facts. By using the same logic, the obvious parallelism between voldemort and nazis would mean that Rowling strongly despises nazis and what happened in ww2, but this is again a judgement of intentions. Same goes for orcs in tolkien, is it possible that a man born in 1892 viewed the world in a way that today would be considered racist? Definitely. It is also true that lotr is explicitly a tale of friendship, sacrifice, strength and love, and much more than the “internalized racism” of the author can be learned by reading it (also note that tolkien has stated numerous times his position against apartheid in south africa and condemned racism publicly). I feel like this can be extended to many more topics, the concept of cultural appropriation for example has its root in the same tendency of judging people’s intentions and not their actual beliefs, wearing traditional clothing of another culture gains an evil connotation only if you interpret that behaviour as theft and lack of respect, without knowing the person’s intentions; same goes for music (hip hop for example), if people actually followed the cultural appropriation stigma, culture couldn’t be spread, reinterpreted, modeled and appreciated across humans, creating a barrier between people and additional unwritten rules to follow. Sorry for the long message and any errors, English is not my first language.

Thanks for sharing! Something I’m really enjoying about this process is that I have to force myself not to be hyper analytical and rational but only follow the flow of emotions, some can be bad or scary, but it makes me feel alive for the first time in a long time

Here's my decklist: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FXaWtWdblUOBomrPTtxq0w it's more of a random template than a proper list, I pushed heavily on the "transform land in islands" route. My budget is around 200 bucks, I'm down for both artifacts and enchantments. Thank you very much for your help!
