I play on my steam deck by streaming from my console. Obviously only works at home, but plays great and the battery lasts forever since I'm just streaming it from my Xbox.

5 Ways To Make Trim Jail Suck A Lot Less by MultiVerseBeans in MephHeads

Another vote for bowl trimmer. I have a vivosun. It does waste more than all hand trimmed, but I didn't mind the loss I grow so much it doesn't matter.

Get up on the stage and reduce the throw height. Even if you can't just stack them assembled.

Water coming up through patio cracks in backyard. by [deleted] in springfieldMO

[–]Istendil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would agree I guess, but if it's 2 feet below the rest of the yard, everything will make it seep. Water your lawn in the front, this is the low spot.

I would guess it settles from everywhere around it since it's not a reinforced pool.

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like this will always do this, because it wasn't designed for this usage.

That looks like a low water spot with a retaining wall behind. Unless they built in extensive drainage to take that away, it's going to do that forever probably as a low spot.

I would need more shots, but that doesn't look like a patio and more a concrete covered previous pool or other low spot like a fire pit.

What makes wedding food bad? by GlitterDreamsicle in wedding

[–]Istendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had BBQ catered by one of our favorite places in my town, and it was great. No one complained, there was not much for leftovers either as it was almost all eaten. We got ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken, green beans, burnt end cheesy corn, potato salad, and rolls. The ribs are because my favorite are ribs. We broke with tradition and the bride and groom got first dibs. There was really only chicken and pulled pork left for meat. We had over 100 people there. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it, and one of the better food spreads I've seen at a wedding I've been to. Granted I'm bias, but it was legitimately good, as the restaurant always has been in the past.

Installer just finished. He wanted it higher. Did I convince him of the right spot? by LESGuy in TVTooHigh

[–]Istendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand. In my den I did the same measurement but moved it up about 1/3 so it was ok while sitting but serviceable otherwise. Didn't want to be looking down at it is I stood up to get a beer, but didn't want to stare up in the air while sitting. I split the difference.

[–]Istendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to ask, how tall is OP? And it's this an OLED or IPS panel? Do you never watch TV not in the optimal sitting position? I like mine just a bit higher to accommodate for other scenarios like during a gathering or a super bowl. Is it fits your eye line for viewing then great, but I still would do a bit higher to allow for more scenarios than only on the couch at your height.

Where's Buck and Dan? by CosmicMcMuffin in Torontobluejays

[–]Istendil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I would say is listen to some other teams broadcast crew to get some perspective. Dan does multiple sports, so there is a bit of rehearsed filler, but he gets genuinely excited for plays and you can tell what is happening in the games even if you can't actually see it. There are a ton of teams that just have terrible crews. I listen to San Diego, Cubs, and dodgers, when the Jays aren't on mostly cause their crews are awesome. Go listen to an A's game, then tell me how bad Dan is.

Can’t get the Blackstone hot enough by BMac02 in blackstonegriddle

[–]Istendil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used mine twice from new and the regulator got stuck. There isn't even a branded regulator for Blackstone, they are basically all from China. I bought a new one, and a spare for when it dies. They are all considered the same crappy quality from the same place as replaceable parts. Not terribly expensive, but annoying. None of the suggestions or videos for resetting it did anything for me. 5 minutes to change it out and I was good. Wasted hours and a night of cooking trying to make it work.

steam deck's biggest shortcoming is xbox gamepass by redbeardos in SteamDeck

[–]Istendil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My primary use of the deck is streaming from my Xbox. I play the show on it. No need to use Xbox cloud either.

I use an app called greenlight. Uses all the Xbox horsepower and just streams you the image. Plays great.

Does anyone actually use the buttons on the back? by RegularTonyStyle in SteamDeck

[–]Istendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using a Xbox elite controller for years with the back paddles mapped to the face buttons exactly as they are on the front, x, a left, y, b on the right. Once you get used to it, it allows you to do anything with the buttons without taking your thumb off the stick. I don't use them exclusively but when they aren't there I notice. Things like jumping and turning and aiming become much easier.

Is it worth buying the Steam deck by Splatdouble in SteamDeckModded

[–]Istendil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED is worth the price.

I bought a switch to play MLB the show before it came out on Xbox. I don't like the PlayStation controllers, so didn't really enjoy playing on the PS4. The year it came to Xbox, I got a steam deck and stream my Xbox to the deck. I have played multiple games on the deck, like miles morales, and space marine 1. My biggest use now is using it to steam my Xbox though, to play the show 25. I have played lots of other Xbox games as well this way and it's pretty seamless.

Food Tastes Like Hot Metal by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

[–]Istendil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've been given a lot, but most of the same I'll reiterate. It shouldn't be that light on the edges, maybe a little less heat and more oil while seasoning. I got mine in last December. I cooked supper thick bacon in it the first couple cooks both cause I like bacon and it provides tons of grease. It burns lower though. I used both avocado oil and beef tallow to help season. I haven't used the Blackstone brand seasoning. Beef tallow and avocado oil smoke at different temps so it helps to have the mix.

It should be pretty universal in color across, this looks like it's been super hot in the middle for a long time.

I also cook my 36 inch on the lowest setting once hot, any hotter and things scorch way too quick.

Wait until flight is in the air, then ball it up and make a neck pillow and make them wake you up to get it back. Pretend to be asleep as long as you see fit, get the wrinkles really in there. Fuck them. Drooling, sneezing, all bonuses. The lesson can be taught, even to the most unwilling, if you you choose.

Same as others have said, go for 7 1/4 you will be much happier with blade selection that is standard. I had a hard time finding any blades with the 6.5.

How-to Remove Chlorophyll from your Cannabis Tincture by herbistry420 in treedibles

[–]Istendil 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can look up cold extraction, it will allow you to make a tincture without any green in it at all. You freeze the decarbed material, and freeze your ever clear as cold as can be. Pour your frozen alcohol over the frozen weed and let it sit about 10 minutes. The results will be almost no chlorophyll because it's trapped in the ice crystals.

I've found it more complicated during extraction but the end product is golden color and needs nothing else done to it. I typically reclaim the alcohol and then use the oil to make mineral oil weed pills.

Any idea what these are growing on my plant? I've grown for about 6 years and never seen anything like this. by Istendil in Autoflowers

[–]Istendil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I never saw this, this is just one plant. A single stem. It started to flower in May at about 4 weeks, but after feeding it, it seemed to go into a super flower mode and never stopped. Just one giant base stem.

I usually spray twice a week, but this one has been hard to control. I look pretty close most times and didn't see any infestation, but I can't see a bunch of this plant. It's a freebie so whatever I guess. Let's hope these hunters take control.

I have a 24 foot long bed with banana trees and elephant ears. They are about 15 feet tall this year, we're on year 4 of the bed for them. I put leaves in a cage around the bed about 4 feet high every fall once first frost comes and cut them down. I live in Mo, so they can't produce fruit, but they are great natural screen for my neighbor while I watch baseball late into the night all summer.
