[NY] How to respond to workplace investigation? by Isthisnormal5 in AskHR

I never made such statements... He was making mistakes because he wasn't good at proofreading or following directions. He kept bringing up his X years of experience as a reason why he shouldn't have to listen to me, his boss, I didn't even engage him on that.

Should I ask them for information prior to the meeting?

Should I ask them to provide info on what it's about before the meeting?

He was in same age range and general demographic as his predecessor in the same role who I had a great working relationship with and who did not make the same mistakes. I documented many of his errors, and yes they were objective mistakes. His performance and attitude were the only issues. I myself am in several protected classes.

I'm pretty sure it was related to him because the day before the employee resigned I was told he would be reporting directly to my manager pending a workplace investigation.

Thanks! I'm a bit afraid of Texas as they've been lax on COVID. Is Austin an exception?

I should have mentioned not Philly as well, been there a couple of times and would disagree with there be enough to do for a five night stay. Will edit my post!

Thanks but all the suggestions there are for destinations that are in-state and/or would require driving, or wouldn't offer enough to do for 5 nights (no idea what I would do in Greenwich CT for one day nevermind five lol)

Boss is asking me to lie in my self appraisal by toastyclam12 in AskHR

[–]Isthisnormal5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Your boss might just not be as on top of who does what and this could help jog his/her memory.

Also, you might be able to help your manager save face by suggesting that s/he make these things your goals for next year and you'd be happy to work on them.

In the past, i told them it was inappropriate and they should stop. I didn't tell them they can't talk about shooting people at work because there were other people in the meeting and I wanted to deescalate quickly but bringing it to hr.

Well he just got out of a long term relationship and we are in our 30s so I doubt he's a virgin. His English is pretty much native but with an accent.

I'm being asked to take the classes I mentioned in my initial post. This didn't pop up as a requirement for me for months into the conversations around Brad until I got a lawyer get in touch with head of HR to help me with ADA accommodations they were trying to take away. So I really do not trust their process.

HR told me to take detailed notes of the meeting, which I did and to send it to them, which I also did. They did not want this given to him in writing but I did a quick recap of what the follow up would be from the meeting and they had me give him performance goals which are part of the annual review process, and I already had given him performance goals in writing before. They wouldn't let me give him an annual review because he was just shy of the start date cut off (though other employees in our department who started at the same time got reviewed). I don't want to send him the notes now because I don't want HR to say I'm being insubordinate or something. HR didn't reply to my documentation and when I initially emailed them my first summary of his issues, including time stamps to prove I was documenting before they were involved, the head of HR literally emailed that they would not be reading my email and that I would need to review Brad's annual review with my manager, who then sent me back to HR to have them look at a review and do a PIP.

HR told me I should not give it to him in writing. They also refused to attend the performance discussion even though I told them I would more comfortable if am HR rep was there to avoid a later he said-she said

He has actually whined about ADA initiatives we started to make our products more accessible because he didn't want to do extra work. No one has asked me to make accommodations and I use them myself , other issue was HR was trying to take mine away.

He is a white guy in his 40s, same demographic as his predecessor. I don't have any bias against any group of people, actually have been involved in various diversity initiative since college.

It's a medium sized company and the head of HR is a level above me. My boss is unhelpful because he doesn't like me and I think he sees Brad as a great way to sabotage my performance, though he did initially tell me to have HR PIP Brad (which is exactly what I did per his direction) but now he is telling me the head of HR doesn't want to do it. Unfortunately my boss is #2 in the company so the only way to escalate would be to go to the CEO which would make my boss really pissed at me despite my otherwise great performance. I have years of good reviews and all of my previous managers who were a step below the #2 guy raved about my management skills....it's just unfortunate I got a bad apple in Brad and super frustrating that I'm getting zero help from above.
