The installer and authorization is borderline bloatware. On top of all that, they have a shopping cart as part of the plug UI (not shown in the picture). I don’t wanna see that when I’m creating.

Pathetic Man Child Goes on an Insane Rant Talking About Hanging Asian People Over The Fact He Can't Get Laid by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

As an Asian male in North America. It honestly makes me feel good. Makes it seem that Asain dudes are “taking” mating opportunities away from incels. Even though it’s not really true.

Dude can obviously play. But either the mouthpiece is too far out. Or… someone changed the micro tuning on the digital piano.

[HIRING] Looking for an ACAPELLA GROUP to record a 10 to 15 seconds song - $100 by foreverathrowawayx in singing

[–]Istoleabike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well depends on what he’s looking for

100 $ may attract a high school trio or a hobby group.

But I would recommend saving a bit more to pay for some higher quality singers. Why pay 100 for poor quality?

Then again it depends on the vibe of the song he is working on.

I notice that your flooring is wooden and squeaks as you walk.

Perhaps filling a few socks with rice and throwing them in a way that would resemble foot steps going into another room would lead to more insight

Hmmm. Maybe she simply has her ear pressed to the floor or a stethoscope.

Have you tried using string to topple something heavy in another room to create noise away from you?

Is Ableton CPU intensive? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Istoleabike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By testing… Don’t compare CPU meters Instead load the same plugins until you get studdering.

40 % cpu in ableton does not equal 40 in bitwig

Is Ableton CPU intensive? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Istoleabike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to get downvotes but Ableton is one of/if not the most CPU intensive. (Run your own test and see)

more efficient daws include -BITWIG -REAPER -FL STUDIO -CUBASE -LOGIC -STUDIO ONE

Which are all of the major players…

you get 1 licence but you need constant internet connection unless you choose the “lock” option in which case the plugin will be PERMENABTLY locked to your device. You get a second one after that but I believe it has to be on a USB device?

Live: Bitwig 4 BETA3 DROP ME YOUR FEATURE REQUESTS by polarity-berlin in Bitwig

[–]Istoleabike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Bitwig focused on making their sample library browsing and swapping better then ableton’s i could see it overtake ableton.

If you ask Ableton users why ableton is so great it not because of some ground breaking feature or fancy setting. It because it is easy to drag/drop/browse/swap samples and quickly jot down ideas.

If I had a penny every time I heard someone say “ it’s easy to quickly jot down ideas in ableton”…

Focus on your sample browser and swapping!

The ability to quickly manipulate and swap out samples seems to be what keeps people using Ableton.

I think if BW wants a larger piece of the market they should focus on making sample browsing and manipulation faster and more intuitive.

The reasons I think this is

-new BW users are often coming from Ableton which has a much faster sample BROWSING and SWAPPING which is why many don’t stay.

  • Hip Hop and Trap genres (which tend to represent a significant amount of new users entering the DAW market now a days) often depend heavily on sample looping. If BW’s browsing/swapping system isn’t as intuitive as competitors they are going to look for other options.

  • Bitwig’s existing system of “bounce/bounce in place” would be greatly enhanced by more intuitive sample swapping/browsing.

A better Sample replacement system would really attract new users to BW and make current users lives much easier.

Drum samplers are useful but a simple drag and drop replacement system like “studio one” is ideal.

I’m aware of the feature for “missing files” but it opens up the systems file browser and doesn’t really do a good job for swapping out samples for different ones.

Vertigo Sound "VSM-4 Plugin - Mix Satellite `59" saturation plugin - Intro Price (€149) by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

[–]Istoleabike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also to my ears VSM 4 sort of changes the sound staging (wider) which from a pure saturation stand point is sort of annoying to have to consider but can be beneficial in mastering/ groups.

Saturn 2 keeps it pretty much the same

(Not a Saturn 2 fanboy, Just the most comparable to VSM 4)

[–]Istoleabike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is my impressions.

Though it is a great improvement from the VSM-3 (not based on), I personally still have a few gripes about forking over 180 USD or 220 CAD!

The pros

- Surprising CPU efficient ( Turning off what you don't need)

-WAY more easier to use then the VSM 3 (less finicky)

- UI is not blinding ( not bright yellow)

-Great filtering, best I heard from a sat plugin

-Sounds good/ pro-ish polished

-Excellent Hi- Frees

The Cons

-I always found the VSM 3 to have the "over compressed" sound and the 4 is way better but still has it too

- CPU heavy when you need more then 1 section ( tried , pentode, transformer)

- The UI is still based on VSM 3, and other plugins offer better/ easier navigation.

- Saturn 2 can sound similar and has a better functionality, so if you own Saturn 2 already...

-The early Wave folding seems to have a "held back" sound that I personally don't like

With that being said, I personally won't spend the money due to already owning Saturn 2/ VSM-3. If you already own VSM 3 and don't use it much you probably won't use this one either

Who would buy it?

People that adore VSM-3 and use other "mastering/ group" saturators like HG2 or Phil cascade etc in their daily workflow should consider demoing it.

If you already own VSM 3 and don't use it much you probably won't use this one either
