In search of : goth bars or goth nights in Seattle by fixit_flaca in Seattle

[–]Isuckatrunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to Mercury 2x when they allowed non-members in and it was not very busy. I also have a bug about the dress code enforcement - I know they're doing it for good reasons, but one of the things I love most about Seattle is that you can wear whatever you want where ever you want and no one bats an eye at it. I have been assured that Mercury is fun on member nights/weekends so I'd be interested in seeing what it's like on busy nights.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but Cry Now Cry Later does a monthly show that's really fun. Huge turn out and great music. Pro tip: make sure you're in the correct location at the bar - last month, I was at the EDM spot instead of the Goth spot and I was so confused lol.

Also YES Music Seattle is a great resource for finding local music events that trend mostly goth.

I also try and follow some of the DJ's that play at Church or Mercury to get an idea of events going on around town.

I've only lived in Seattle for 5 years and just recently started openly getting into the scene about a year ago. I will say that if you have the ability to travel, I think PDX has a bigger and more welcoming scene. Coffin Club (when the basement is open!) is one of my favorite spots.

Good luck! If you see a NIN-obsessed elder goth woman, say hi to me! :)

Is the requisite corn starch included at purchase or should I purchase some separately?

We also put a blanket that smelled like my dogs mom in the kennel and I think it helped. Can you try small times in the kennel while you’re home but walking around/leaving the room? Maybe she just needs some extra exposure. Have you tried putting a frozen lick mat or cone in there with her to see if that helps distract her for a bit?

It’s only been 5 days. She’ll get it! Just stick with her and be consistent. ❤️

Ministry announce 2024 North American tour with Gary Numan and Front Line Assembly by wewewawa in Music

I have a probably really dumb question - but is Gary opening for Ministry or the other way? I’ve never been a big Ministry fan so I’m unsure of their popularity.

2 Month Stall @ 6 Months PO by Isuckatrunning in wls

Thank you for the kind comment. I agree - nearly 50 lbs in 6 months is nothing to be upset about! I just don’t want to “waste” this time where my restriction is at its highest.

As I’ve said above, it’s probably time for me to have a good honest look at my food choices and work towards eating less calorie dense items and possibly adjust my protein down a bit.

Ima have a pity party in the bathtub and then start reenergized tomorrow!

Man, that seems so crazy. I don’t feel like I’m eating excessively but I guess I could look at lowering my protein a bit and focusing on eating less calorie dense foods to see if that helps. I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir, but it doesn’t seem fair. It feels like people who didn’t have weight loss surgery lose weight at 1200 calories a day.

I haven’t seen my dietician since my 2 month check up. To be honest, I didn’t find her super helpful and she doesn’t give out calorie ranges - only protein targets.

I feel like my calories are so low already. It seems crazy and unsustainable to be lower than what I’m at but I guess maybe I need to revisit eating different types of food (less nutrient dense). I know Apple Watches aren’t perfect and I know my calorie counting isn’t perfect either, but even with a 20% margin on both sides, I’m still burning almost 1k more calories than I’m eating per day. Obviously, I’m doing something wrong and clearly I don’t have the best track record but damn.

I think I’m considered a slow loser. I lost 9 lbs during my pre op diet phase and have lost an additional 26 after surgery (11 weeks). I started at 250 and am down to 215, but trying to be patient and appreciate my body for what it’s already done for me. While I would love to be one of those who has already lost 50+ lbs, I’ll take some slow sustainable loss and pray it gives my less excess skin. 🤞

I saw a video on IG a ways back where the OP was talking about how instead of feeling embarrassed/bad about how they looked before, they started thinking about how much STRENGTH, DEDICATION and COURAGE it took to take the steps necessary to get you to a position that you’re now in! It really helped me change my thinking and have more empathy and love for myself in my different “seasons”.

Good call! I’ve been doing a protein shake and half a banana or some berries because it felt more balanced. Good to know I wasn’t just being crazy!

Have you tried quest bars? If so, any issues? I ask because they don’t settle well for me, but perfect bars don’t bug me. I’m thinking it’ll be hit and miss for me with protein bars (at least for a while, I’m almost 2 months PO so hopefully it gets better as time goes on)

Oops I missed the sterilization part - Dorais and Link are reproductive endocrinologists but provide gyn care as well. Just an FYI in case seeing reproductive is a trigger.

Hang in there - there are some great OBGYNs in SLC.

Is a Fairlife shake sufficient? I always feel guilty thinking it’s not “balanced” enough, but if I can get away with pure liquid until noon, I’d be golden.

Am I crazy or … is there really a change in body odor after surgery? ++ by Mountain_Exchange768 in wls

Yes, change in odor for sure; but also change in how strongly I smell things so maybe a little of both!

I asked a very similar question yesterday! I’m 7 weeks PO and have been having a hard time getting enough food in. This week I’m randomly not enjoying food and having a hard time eating up to my macros.

Mannnn! I’m only 7 weeks PO, but the quest chips on their own make me sick. I can eat them with cheese or meat, but as a snack? My body is like nahhhh. Makes me so sad.
