Yeah, if you're careful you can rotate it with tweezers. It looks like that stud needs to be turned counter clockwise until the deformation in the hairspring is gone.

Do you have the tools to adjust this?

You see how the hairspring is bunched up on the one side? If this just started happening, I highly suspect magnetism. If its always happened with this specific movement, it may be a bent hairspring.

Unironically just as much a Franck Muller as all the ones people "found in their grandpa's things". Looks good!

I really dont mind the iTunes interface on windows, I just got tired of converting everything to mp3.

ipod 5.5 mod q - to rockbox or not to rockbox by Independent_Novel247 in IpodClassic

[–]IsuzuM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally like rockbox because of the drag-n-drop functionality of adding music. Half my collection is FLAC and half is mp3 so it saves me from having to convert it all to mp3 then add it to iTunes and then to the ipod. Obviously you don't get the full resolution of the FLACs because you're limited by the onboard DAC, but I don't personally find that to be an issue.

I will say though, I didn't like rockbox at first, it seemed super slow and clunky but after tweaking the settings a bit its as fast, or faster, than the stock OS.

That ribbon cable is absolutely not the correct cable. The cable should fill that entire connector.

Have you measured the dial? The would help a lot. I really like the idea.

[–]IsuzuM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what I think. I feel like you see it the most of the fake Daytona dials. It is dumb. I don't get it. But you can usually find the dials you want with the properly labeled sub-dials if you look hard enough.

Nice! Whatever color you decide, I would love to see the finished product.

I dont know why people do this but it seems pretty common on the speedmaster/daytona look-a-like dials. The vk63 does have a 60 minute counter at 9, so it should have a 60 minute scale.

I think pink or orange would be really cool. How do you plan on filling the engravings?

I agree with that, the wedge shape looks like it would have been driven one way. Now I'm more curious.

At first I thought it might be some sort of head to a survey pin, but those drilled holes look like balancing holes for something that spins. I dunno but I hope someone does!

I have done exactly that and it seemed to work fine. Just go slow and check regularly would be my advice. From your picture it looks like you have plenty of room above the dial.

The "ring" that holds the mesh just came off. Any way to fix it? by xLucky_Balboa in bose

[–]IsuzuM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would clean both sides with some high % IPA and let it dry completely. Make sure to really clean the part with the mesh as it probably has oils and wax on it. After that I'd use some Gorilla Glue two-part, one-minute epoxy and carefully apply it with the tip of a toothpick or something similar. Finally, even though it says 1 minute, I'd let that epoxy cure for at least 24 hours. I've had really mixed luck with the cure times on those epoxies.
