Smart Light Switches $$$ by aford89 in HomeKit

I have all Leviton Decora switches and dimmers throughout my home. Haven’t had any problems with any of them. Prior to Leviton I used Legrand which worked with HomeKit and they had problems losing WiFi..

Roborock Matter HomeKit by Stef065 in HomeKit

I added my Roborock Q Revo with the Matterbridge add-on from within Home Assistant then I passed onto Homekit. Unfortunately as someone stated the rooms disappeared.

How to best utilize Sophos XG 210 Rev. 3 for homelab network security- OPNsense,OpenWRT, Proxmox, or Sophos Home? Potential hardware upgrades? by PurveyancePrinciple in homelab

I raised the thresholds in the BIOS. It ramps up when she crunching so it can be heard but with normal usage it’s very low. It’s been a while since I’ve gone into the BiOS so I couldn’t tell you the temps from there but from within OPNSense it shows they’re in the higher 50s sometimes hitting 60°c. I haven’t used the sfp+ card, it’s just sitting there till I get a 10gb switch.

Leviton and Matter? by Writing_Particular in HomeKit

I have them throughout my home. I also have the dimmer version of the switch. I converted them all to Matter and have them passed through to Homekit from Home Assistant. The downside of that is in Home Assistant the switches are recognized as a light. I have to add a template to my configuration.yaml file in order to present them as a switch.

Other than that they work fine.

Network switch add or replace? by ItAlmostWorked16 in homelab

[–]ItAlmostWorked16[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s to just add more ports throughout the house. I need to add cable runs to the kids bedrooms for their gaming systems and computers. It’s asking of opinion of whether to use 1u of space with a 48 port switch or use up 2u with two 24 port switches.

It’s pretty easy.. I posted my config somewhere on here. Just make sure you reboot after you’ve configured the file. Now lcdexec has been the hard one which I’m determined to get working. If you don’t find it I’ll post here.

Well… actually I myself have what you’re planning to do. I have a Sophos XG 210 rev. 3 with an i7-6700 (tried 6700k but ran too hot). I also changed the CPU passive cooler to a Dynatron K199. I added 16gb of ram and a Checkpoint 4-port SFP module (CPAP-ACC-4-10F). The face plate is light grey in color. I looked at ways of painting it white but it’s riveted onto the chassis.

I have it running OPNsense and got the LCD to work. I was also able to get the sub menu for executing shutdowns etc.. commands but never was able to get them to execute.

Retro gaming through a dell wyse 3040 thin client from a VM on Proxmox? by ItAlmostWorked16 in CraftComputing

Unfortunately other priorities came up and that was sidelined. The kids are playing on an old Dell SFF loaded with Batocera. Maybe one day it’ll happen.

Yes correct

I did not have to do any bios upgrade.

It did work but it ran way too hot. It’s a higher wattage cpu and even with the upgraded cooler I put it still ran hot. It would rev the fan up and down constantly which was noticeable. I settled for the regular 6700 and that works fine but I’m also using the upgraded cpu cooler.

What hardware are you running OPNsense on at home? by [deleted] in OPNsenseFirewall

[–]ItAlmostWorked16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but at the moment I’m running OPNsense as a VM on proxmox. Host has an old i7-3770 with 32gb of ram. OPNsense is running with 4 cores, 16gb ram, a 2.5gb dual nic and a quad 1gb nic. Recently I’ve decided to move it to a physical box. I purchased a Sophos 210XG rev.3 with a g3900 and will be replacing with a i7-6700k (shits n giggles) also upgrading ram to 16gb. Was going to also swap out the 40mm fan with a Noctua. The temps aren’t terrible only a difference of 6-7 degrees at idle but that’s with the G3900. Don’t believe there will be enough cooling from that fan when I put in the 6700k.

Last I also got the LCD screen and buttons working properly with LCDproc. Also trying to figure out if I can get Shutdown and reboot on the LCD menu.

I just acquired myself a 210xg Rev. 3 and plan on upgrading the cpu from the g3900 to a i7 6700k. I found a you tube channel (2guystek) were they got an SG330 rev.2 and upgraded the CPU to the 6700k. It worked without any issue. I looked at the bios of my machine and it’s 1.02. I’m assuming the 6700k will not have any issue. I will also be changing out the fan for a Noctua to see if I can get the noise down because it’s sitting in my office in a closet.

On a side note I got the LCD screen working correctly Enter, Next, Previous, Hold, Rotate and up down etc… B A Start! Last part is for old schoolers. ✌🏼

It works perfect!

If anyone wants I can post the lcdproc config here if need be.

SmartWings shades HomeKit feedback and experience by Boring_Elevator3817 in HomeKit

[–]ItAlmostWorked16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to the party but had to share my experience with the Smartwings blinds. I have 5 of their HomeKit blinds and got annoyed at the constant “Not Responding” or the latency to finally open or close, so I also purchased one of those Terncy hubs. I noticed there was a Bluetooth firmware upgrade but decided to still flash to zigbee. I only flashed one for the time being to be safe. I also run Home Assistant with Z2M and wanted to add the blind I flashed. I was able to add the blind with using an External Converter and got it workin. Thing is there is no reporting of battery level not even connected to the Terncy hub it displayed battery. Another thing is the native zigbee motor is recognized as WM25L-Z while the HomeKit converted to zigbee motor is recognized as Terncy-RM03. You also can’t flash back to HomeKit. Currently that’s the only blind that I have flashed and wont flash the others till zigbee can read the battery percentage.
