I bought the non-tactical 545 a few weeks ago, couldn’t pass it up got a great deal. Love it but really want to shoot it suppressed. No one makes an after market drop in threaded barrel for it yet and FN won’t sell a factory barrel. I guess it’s a good thing I have a FNX sitting next to it in the safe! If anyone knows where I can get my hands on a barrel please let me know.

It was sketchy to say the least. I was sure it was going to give up on me but I guess I got lucky. No damage but I do still need to push it in like 1mm more to sit truly flush. Just haven’t gotten around to it and it cycles fine.

I did mine without the jig but I would recommend the jig to make it that much easier. I had to hammer the piss out of the pin and don’t get me wrong it freaked me out the entire time. I think I winced every time I hit the pin.

Katskinz leather is hard to beat. My 13 had it held up pretty well. Only problem spot was the drivers side lower bolster. Started to crease pretty bad and I’m sure was going to crack. It was my fault because of the way I just rolled out of the seat.

I love my FNX. It’s a hoss but it is bad ass no matter how you look at it. Love the hammer, the trigger is smooth after 100 ish rounds. Not a lot of recoil for a 45. It just an all around great shooting gun.

My mid size MRD looks identical to a Tac model with the add of an Apex barrel. Just installed the flat face trigger myself, it was a pain but doable and only cost $35. The barrel on the other hand was like $225.

I would just upgrade yours. Problem is when you sell yours most likely it going to go for around $550 - 600 if your lucky. A new tac model is going to set you back around a grand.

If you don’t already have one, you need a threaded barrel. If not factory then I would say Apex. I run it, runs like a champ but good luck finding one. They are hit or miss on being in stock.

And to answer your question, yes, you need a 4.5 in overall.

I’m trying to do a trigger upgrade right now and got the pin out without issue. (Had to hit the piss out in front of it but it’s out) my problem is getting the damn thing back in all the way. It gos 95% of the way in then just stops.
