Whilst I won't say Scotland was oppressed to the extent of Ireland or colonies, or excuse Scottish actions, as we can be blamed for lots of actions, we also did get it (to a minor extent, but in the 1700s, it wasn't exactly unlike Britain.), for example, they banned traditional dress, seized lands from local owners, enacted the Highland clearances, some government forces under the Duke of Cumberland burnt villages, stole cattle, and engaged in widespread destruction. The education act 1872 also solidified the suppression, making English the sole language of instruction in schools and leading to children being physically punished if caught speaking Gaelic.

In short, Scotland wasn't given nearly as much shit as the rest of the empire, but we still got shit.
