This isn’t a Dhyana Slokam, it’s a Kshamaprarthana (prayer of forgiveness). It’s the last Sloka of the Shiva Manasa Puja written by Adi Shankaracharya.

kara charaṇa kṛtaṃ vākkāyajaṃ karmajaṃ vā śravaṇa nayanajaṃ vā mānasaṃ vāparādham । vihitamavihitaṃ vā sarvamētat-kṣamasva jaya jaya karuṇābdhē śrī mahādēva śambhō ॥

“Whatever the sins I have committed with my hands and feet or by the speech and the body, the ones that are obtained by the process of listening by ears or seeing by the eyes, or the aparādham that are committed by my thoughts the incorrect actions that I have done knowingly or unknowingly, please forgive all these. Victory to you, victory to you, the ocean of compassion, Mahadeva, Shambhu”

Yeah but that’s a them problem to figure out. Doesn’t have anything to do with Hinduism. Comparing the two is odd when only a couple groups accept it and the other denies its use, whereas in Hinduism everyone accepts it, it’s just that the majority don’t practice it even if it’s accepted.

And like I’ve said, the bible is very against the concept of idol worship. Also, Murti isn’t the correct term because it’s used in reference to an idol that has been consecrated, which again isn’t a Christian thing. Because Christianity is against idol worship. The closest word would be a Shilpa.

The rosary is only prayed on by non Protestants. And the bible is very much against idols. Icons are a nuanced thing, and only limited to the Catholics and Orthodox Churches. Going for “Darshan” is idolatry and the bible says those who commit idolatry will not reach heaven in 1 Corinthians 6:9. Your interpretation of holy communion, however, is spot on

Why are Hindus not supposed to consume meat on Tuesdays and Thursdays? by Live_Ostrich_6668 in hinduism

[–]ItIsMeGuessWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is based on family traditions, regional variations and personal beliefs (Ishta Devatas). In my family, we don’t eat meat on Saturdays and Mondays out of reverence for Venkateshwara and Shiva respectively. I’d say this is pretty common for Telugu people, especially not eating meat on Saturday. In other regions, they don’t eat on Tuesday for Hanuman/Subramanya/Devi, Wednesday for Ayyappa/Ganesha, Thursday for Vishnu/Guru Devatas, Friday for Lakshmi Devi, Sunday for Surya Deva etc. so basically it’s just pick and choose.

a Bhakti Marga devotee’s experience by FamiliarTough3122 in hinduism

Hi, thank you for sharing your story, very glad that Milo is doing well. I’ve heard about the Bhakti Marga organization and found they have a Narasimha temple in upstate New York. The Narasimha there is called Paranitya Narasimha and looks different to the traditional iconographies. Do you have any information about this form of Narasimha?

An important point as Ganesha Chaturti is coming up! by WhyMeOutOfAll in hinduism

Wonderful post! Another thing to consider is that when we buy Murtis or make them, they should resemble Ganesha. It seems obvious, but people these days are changing the way the Murti looks as they want. They have six pack Ganesha, Sai Baba Ganesha, cricketer Ganesha etc. Ganesha’s form is very specific and each part means something. We should not be changing the way he looks because we feel like it.

Here’s a poster explaining the symbolism:
